Andy is more or less telling Sam that the reason he is not liked/getting booed by the public is because he was part of the 'toxic' group that treated him (Andy) badly

Yes, it is. I remember Andy and Sam talking earlier in the series - I think it was about finding their feet about being gay when they were younger. I always got the impression that these two had a friendship in there and took the opportunity to talk at times.

Sam was booed because he's boring and done virtually nothing. Andy is wrong imo cos Hughie hung around with both Lateysha and Ryan and he gets cheered.
