Locals have been attacking and even occassionaly killing armed forces personal for years up and down the country for the offence of drinking in the wrong pub, looking at a girl funny or having the affront to be stationed nearby.

Is abducting servicemen out for a jog in remote country lanes popular with knife wielding Marham locals of Middle Eastern appearance these days?

Men in the armed forces have a stereotype cast upon them for a reason. They can get away with so much shit compared to people in a "normal" profession and usually do.
You'd have to be pretty stupid to try and abduct someone whose job requires them to be physically very fit.

Maybe because they defend the country when called apon to do so..?? for that reason alone i have no problem with them receiving favorable treatment sometimes.

Which would be a total over-reaction not to mention impractical. Besides, it might make them more of a target for the nutters, Having all of the police being armed in the US doesn't stop them being shot at.

I'm sat on Marham airfield now at the friends and family day airshow. It's business as normal with a few extra police patrols outside the gates.
No-one seems overly anxious and my son and colleagues have just been given a bit of advice regarding their personal security, none of which will, or should, involve arming them all.

It's great. Just waiting to see two BBMF Spitfires do a display and the Lanc should be coming past at sometime. Red Arrows were mazing as normal.
