That's pretty silly. Obviously the soldier - Because their profession makes them a better choice of protector. If you think that should make them immune to criticism, or get "more perks" than the rest of society, you're wrong.

Situations like this are sadly inevitable. If you work for an organization that kills people (regardless of how justified those kills are) some people are going to want revenge. It's like a more brutal version of off-duty coppers sometimes getting verbal (or physical) abuse in the street from the bloke they locked up the other weekend. The nature of the job they do means there will sometimes be people out for revenge against them.

The situation is only inevitable if men of Middle Eastrern appearance continue to be allowed into the country.

The lad did well to protect himself and scare the two b*st*rds off. Now if he'd come back with their heads as trophies I'd have put him in for a guaranteed promotion.

I'd lock him up straight away on suspicion of a double murder. We're all quick to condemn it when ISIS murder people and display the bodies as trophies, but it seems that when it's "our boys" it's fine. I'm sure your comment wasn't meant to be taken completely seriously, but comments like that don't help. We're meant to be the good guys - It means we don't murder people for revenge. We don't do things like killing people we don't like and displaying their heads as trophies. The minute we do that we lose the moral high ground, we lose any legitimacy in fighting the terrorists.

All these radicalized jihadists friends and family know nothing about their sudden homicidal impulse to abduct and it comes as a total surprise so they say. Stick them in prison or let them leave the UK.

Well axtol we seem to be at war except the enemy arn't wearing uniform or driving tanks it does make life easier for British people and the likes of Lee Rigby if we can see them coming.

If he was being abducted for beheading like Lee Rigby, then he has every right to use as much force as he likes even if it meant killing them

Nice editing and ammendment to your post there axtol. My type of humour goes down like an Assad barrel bomb on the web but I still think todays soldier did well to fight his corner and I hope these two wannabees are soon caught.

There needs to be a nationwide search to find these two pieces of shit before they get to try again, as they surely will.

Surely someone must know who they are?

Unfortunately it's a bit late for that.

On the other hand, I don't think that anyone would complain if they'd left a tooth or two behind for DNA testing.

Is there any CCTV or did anyone else see the assailants or is it just the serviceman's story ?

Why do you assume they weren't born here?
And what about men of middle eastern appearance who happen to be from Italy or other Mediterranean countries?
It's not that easy to be sure just because of someone's appearance.

It's an extremely rural road so CCTV is unlikely I'd think.

Oh come on. You are not that naïve. Its clear and common sense that these two animals are young Muslims, most probably British. Its simply the PC way to describe them as Middle Eastern, which just about avoids any PC race nonsense.

According to the local plod
"The motivation for the attack remains unclear and whilst we are currently unable to discount terrorism, there are a number of other possible hypotheses."
I'd be fascinated to hear the other hypotheses.

Sometimes these stories are not quite what they first appear. Remember the credible threat to kidnap and murder West Midlands police officers.

This eventually became.

OK. How many people are going to believe this story as being true? Things are getting from the sublime to the ridicules now! Oh well, I suppose this could justify 32 billion pounds being spent to modernize a "deterrent" that will NEVER be used!

We're at war with these scumbags I'd cheer on any British soldier killing as many as he can, especially when attacked whilst out for a jog

If they are as you say 'probably British' (and if it pans out to be a terrorist plot then I'd say your 'probably' is more likely a certainty) then that Is the whole point of my question to that poster who assumes by keeping men of middle eastern appearance from coming here will stop this sort of attack. In fact, pointing out to them your exact point! And basically telling them they're deluded without saying it.
