Bloody hell, didn't take long for FakeJonny to swoop in did it?

Could it be any more obvious that Paul was a stop gap character til FakeJonny came back?

Last 2 episodes have been quite good. For me Ben is the most interesting Mitchell character now.

Still don't like Ted's Johhny as much as Sam's but I think he is improving.

This was the first episode since Ted Riley took over the Johnny role that I really liked him. But among such a tragic storyline, DTC and the writers couldn't have been more obvious now about why Paul was axed, having Johnny comfort Ben.

Poor Pam, I know it was wrong of her to blame Ben and wish it was him instead, but I felt so sorry for her.

Harry is a good actor, he really has been good this week.

So glad Jay had some scenes with his "brother"

I think Pam blaming Ben was the impulsive reaction, not a reflection on her character. When Billie Jackson died, Carol took it out on Lauren accusing her of encouraging him to drink more.

Well after checking the actionline page on BBC there is no category for gay related help.

But there is for Sexual Violence. Still not very good is it. BBC not covering for all types and variety of issues.

Agreed - it seems Paul was just a stop-gap character. Even if they wanted rid of Paul, they could have had him make piece with his Mum.

I guess the BBC don't want to offend especially the Christian Nutter brigade - stupid though as I thought this was a modern and open-minded country. As for homophobic attacks - I reckon any form of prejudice attack whether it's racist, homophobic, sexist etc that leads to disablement or death, the perpetrator should have death penalty.

Why would anyone complain ? It was clear it was used as a derogatory term and caused deep hurt

As somebody whose friend was a victim and died as a result of a hate crime many years ago that was tough to watch

Harry Reid has been fantastic imo as have Roger and Lin

RIP Paul Coker you may not be remembered for your life but certainly will be for your death

Thanks

Agreed. I think it's obvious Ben/Johnny is going to happen now!

I don't like that they've actually taken the homophobia route, because it's like "oh gay people got attack so it must be homophobic" - it just seems cheap and easy, rather than a "normal" mugging gone wrong. However, maybe it'll do some good and make people realise that it does still happen.

"Den, there's been a homophobic attack, I just don't know what to say. Any suggestions?" "Ello Princess".

They are highlighting something, which even in improved times for gays in recent times in the UK, still happens all too frequently and tragedies like this really do still happen in this country.

I think it's been handled exceptionally well and the actors have done themselves proud

It was nice that everyone was there for the Cokers but I think, when Paul was alive, he should've had more scenes with the younger cast and not just with Ben.

I can't remember Belinda and Pam ever having scenes together but I liked them today.

I suspected that it would be a homophobic attack but I didn't expect when Ben said Paul died due to him mouthing off.

SO glad that the episode didn't end with Johnny and Ben kissing. I don't think that they will ever get together but if in the future they do, I think Ben will look at the tattoo on his finger and immediately stop.

Someone pointed out that the police said Paul and Ben were a 'young gay couple' instead of a 'young couple'

I kinda want Paul's killer to be someone the viewers know, instead of a stranger who won't be caught (even though it won't be) - I'd be surprised if it turned out to be someone unrelated like Carl White's brother, Adam.

I don't. It should be about the victim and EE has had its fill of mysterious deaths and months and months of chasing suspects.

Harry, Roger and especially Lin were excellent again. Two fantastic episodes in a row.

Love the Jay and Ben dynamic.

The Belinda and Pam scenes were lovely.

Actually now that I think about it, that's true. Lucy's murder was always planned as a whodunnit (and not so much how she died) but this storyline is highlighting homophobic attacks - forget what I said earlier.
