What was the huge mound which Sally wanted to unveil? The thing with the firework on top?

Or is it very common, and am I simply revealing that I don't move in those sort of circles?

Croquembouche I believe is what it's called. Forget that... It's just a mound of Choux pastry b-lls to me

It's called a croquembouche (sp?).

And I think they are very posh, not very common - otherwise Sally wouldn't have had one at her soiree

A "croquembouche". Looked like it's something made of profiteroles.

Edit: two people posting at the same time as me

Thanks, I've never seen nor heard of one before. And it looked disgusting - how are you supposed to separate the profiteroles without using your fingers?

Having now looked them up, they come with caramel and limoncello cream inside ... so maybe not so bad.

I suppose the croquembouche has taken over from the chocolate fountain - and is eqaully naff. If my schoolgirl French serves me right, croquem bouche means crunchy mouth.
