Those South Park guys are so lucky, political correctness is such a great subject for satire and because most of the U.S. entertainment industry is PC they've got it almost to themselves.

Last season was a revelation. The best season South park has done in a long time. I think making the show slightly serialized with connections to each episode and story lines threading throughout the season has been a smart and successful way to really revitalise the show. But they did it in a way where it was still not taking away the show's identity and risking to turn it into a soap opera.

I must confess actually that I wasn't a huge fan of last season. I accept that the serialization aspect of it was very different to what they've done before, which is probably why I couldn't initially get in to it, but they did have a few standout episodes though.

I'll very likely re-watch the series before Season 20 gets underway.

I felt the same as you, especially after the tail end of the previouos series with the GOT and Hobbit episodes.

I can't really see them ever topping the GOT trilogy, unless they do another one - there's enough source material i suppose

I would be very surprised if Pokemon Go isn't a feature early on this season

Most likely
I would go as far as saying that South park would do a whole episode based on it

Not going to happen, they said because of the Chinpokemon episode they aren't retreading old ground.

Episode 1 is called "Member Berries". The preview is this ..

Garrison is still on the campaign trail in the season premiere of “South Park” titled “Member Berries” on Wednesday, September 14 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.

In the premiere episode, the National Anthem gets a reboot by an American Icon
There's also a picture of Cartman wearing a t-shirt with "Token's life matters" on it, so i think we can guess where they're going with that one

I'm so glad South Park is still going. Very few duff episodes in their entire run, in my opinion, and a large number of outstandingly funny ones.

I do agree, although I do think they reached their absolute pinnacle with the Black Friday trilogy and haven't quite topped that yet, but I certainly hope they give it a try.

Watched episode one earlier on and it was very good. Some good laughs throughout and it does appear they're going with a season-long story arc again as well.

I thought it was a very solid season premiere and I wasn't expecting that ending. Roll on next week.

Yerp i thought it was a good solid opener. Funny from the word go and a number of themes set up which look to set to run through the series.

Quick review of the episode below.

I like the storylines they should add some twists and back stories.

Wow, I loved that episode !. When I saw the title, I thought "Skank Hunt" was going to be a twist on Pokemon Go after all, but it turned out to be brilliant.

Definitely darker than some of the stuff they've done but I just loved it. That ending sequence ..

Another great episode this week. Loved the scene with Cartman and the boys in the cabin and of course Scott Malkinson and Mackey

South Park really has gone up a level over the past two seasons. This season looks like being every bit as good as the last on the evidence of the two episodes so far.

I feel like South Park has improved markedly since having the episodes have an over-arching storyline to them. Seasons 13-16 for me were incredibly hit and miss and in my mind were more often miss, but then it started picking up in Season 17 and now we have episodes which tell a narrative while still being funny and incredibly witty and reflective on modern day culture, it's amazing how good Matt and Trey handle the series' progression, where as by this point "The Simpsons" was already on a lull of about 7/8 years, and "Family Guy" has also gone well past it's sell by date before even reaching Season 15.

Anyhow, the story this season is great already. At first I wasn't sure what to think of the whole "Member Berries" thing and it seemed dumb, but with the 2nd episode making Cartman a victim, I think we're likely to see the return of "Evil Cartman" when he gets his inevitable revenge on the boys and the internet troll who framed him.

Also the latest episode really hit some emotional beats and dark moments, with the bridge scene and then the very end with the mass break-up. They really seem to be firing on all cylinders and again. it's only the 2nd episode of the story. Excited to see where it goes from here.

The bits in bold - exactly. These two episodes have been brilliant to watch.

Another excellent episode this week. Not really laugh out loud funny, apart from a couple of places, but I really don't have an issue with that because the writing was so good.
