I've just had another look at the footage of the fracas that led to Kylie's stabbing and the more I look at the crucial few seconds the less I'm convinced that Clayton actually had the opportunity to pull out his knife when it seemed that he did.

Look closely again (you'll find the relevant couple of minutes at the end of this short clip: http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/coronati...-platts-death/ ). It starts as a straightforward wrestle, where we can see Clayton's right hand clearly holding onto Kylie (but not apparently holding a knife at that point). During the tussle Clayton, still holding onto her, appears to push at her and they part for a second, at which point she drops the bottle of champagne. In the next instant they're back in the fighting clinch, which is when we're to believe that Clayton lunged at Kylie with a knife. I'm trying hard to see from the footage when he actually had the opportunity or the time to withdraw his knife, flick open the blade and push it into Kylie's chest .. the timeline of the footage doesn't really allow for that to take place.

I know it's a bit super-picky, especially as all the furore has mostly passed now, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else might have wondered the same thing.

I thought she dropped the bottle of champagne because Clayton plunged the knife into her? When you watch the clip, you can see Kylie going towards Clayton, then you can hear the knife go in, which is when she drops the bottle.

On further examination I have to agree with you, but from the previous couple of frames, when he pushes her away until he lunges at her and she drops the bottle, there isn't really sufficient time for him to have drawn the knife.

It's fiction of course, so this kind of forensic examination after the event is neither here nor there really. They've got him now anyway and as there's so much evidence stacked against him there's no way a guilty judgement won't result.
