I really enjoyed Fleabag. Far from lazy writing, it is a colossal achievement for the author to script and star in a whole series and to succeed on both counts.
The tale of a youngish woman going through various life crises is nothing new, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge puts her own slant on it. I did not quite know where each sliver of dialogue was going, so it felt edgy and unpredictable. Even after a whole episode, I am not sure how to respond to this character--is she just a ditzy, cute mess or teetering into mental illness? The ambiguity means that sometimes I laugh and sometimes I cringe.
I will watch this again. Good writing, good acting, good direction.
