I found this much more entertaining than I expected. The main character's conversation with her father was great, and her relationship with her sister was impressive. Very funny writing.

Can't they write any comedy now without the constant swearing? There really is no need for it, it is lazy writing. I'm no prude but it adds nothing to the show.

I can't say I even noticed the swearing; nor would I classify that as lazy anyhow.

You can't help but notice when a woman utters the C word, yet we are always told women hate that word.

I really enjoyed Fleabag. Far from lazy writing, it is a colossal achievement for the author to script and star in a whole series and to succeed on both counts.

The tale of a youngish woman going through various life crises is nothing new, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge puts her own slant on it. I did not quite know where each sliver of dialogue was going, so it felt edgy and unpredictable. Even after a whole episode, I am not sure how to respond to this character--is she just a ditzy, cute mess or teetering into mental illness? The ambiguity means that sometimes I laugh and sometimes I cringe.

I will watch this again. Good writing, good acting, good direction.

Except I didn't notice. So, I could apparently help it. I guess if I was looking for reasons to fault women, I might have noticed and made broad claims about women because of it. Perhaps in the next series about women, and their incessant need to do and say what they choose.

Enjoyed this. I thought the language was acceptable as it fitted the way the main character would behave.

Ooops - sorry. I started a new thread before noticing there already was one. I liked it. Something a bit different that I'll certainly watch again.

I thought there were some good, laugh-out-loud moments, so I'll be watching again.
I do think it could have been toned-down just a little though, it seemed desperate to shock at times which is never as funny as the participants think.

I quite liked it, it was very amusing and did seem a bit more daring then other comedies, but it worked. I really enjoyed Phoebe Waller-Bridge's performance, and she's evidently a very talented writer as well.

Watched the first ep yesterday and really enjoyed it. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. I did notice the swearing but don't think it was out of context - it fit the character. Didn't feel particularly BBC - but I guess one of the benefits of BBC3 being online only is that it enables them to move away from the more 'traditional BBC' programming that is made for broadcast.

Switched it off halfway through, totally unentertaining.

I've just discovered this and watched the first two episodes back to back. I think it's the funniest, freshest thing I've seen on television in ages. It also has an undercurrent of sadness that resonates with me.

I can see why prudes won't like it but that's their loss.

I love it!
"You look stressed." "Well I'm successful, so..."
I didn't notice any excessive swearing, though I do normally find swearing a used as a lazy punch line, just for effect, but this is better than that, it makes me laugh a lot. Walking out of someone's house holding toilet roll you've just stolen is funny, especially when they ask for it back. Really, really stupid, but it cracked me up!

When Fleabag is walking down the street thinking she looks great (around 06:40sec) what does that man crossing the road say under his breath / cough? I just can't make it out!

Even though I enjoyed the first episode I'd forgotten all about it until reminded on here. I think BBC3 viewing figures must have absolutely plummeted since it went online-only.

What is especially annoying is that they have gone to a halfway house between a Netflix online model and a regular linear channel. They only put the shows up online but they put them up once a week rather than putting the whole series up in one go like Netflix.

I can never work out when exactly the new episode will show up in my on demand section (unlike a linear channel where I know exactly when I'll be getting it each week) so inevitably I end up forgetting and only get the new episode when I see, for example, a thread like this pop up to the top of DS.

If they are going to go online only the least they could do would be to put all the episodes of a series up in one go to make it easier to follow.

I only found it by chance when on the iPlayer. And even there, they use the title ||! instead of THREE or BBC3... I'm sure someone at the BBC thinks this is very edgy. I just find it annoying.

I sort of didn't want to enjoy the show because she seemed like such an awful person but the more I watched it the more I got into it! It's like Miranda taken to the extreme. Also a bit like Siblings - she seemingly has no idea how awful she is. But also wondering if she's really like this and it's the death of her friend that's made her like it. It's kinda sad at the same time as funny.

I think it's a great series and I like the ambiguity of it. I totally agree with others comments about the frustrations of BBC3 in its current form.
