Wasn't sure last week but it's grown on me (like fungus!), I think I'd prefer it as a one hour serio-comedy though. 30 mins feels too short like it's only just getting going.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 episodes and will watch the rest on Beeb 2.

The Fleabag character is excellent and reminds me of Meg from Drifters, both in looks and personality.

"Love, Nina" was saddled with a "Pure Drama" ident before each episode yet I found it hilarious. This is presented as a sitcom but I haven't laughed at the two episodes I've seen.

I love it, but if you don't find anything funny in the first half, I don't think you'd find the second half very funny either. It gets more intense, darker and better, but it's the same humour. If anything, there are less 'jokes' as it progresses. I think.

Still think its worth persevering with as I really didnt like her character in the first couple of episodes and it was only as the series revealed her relationships that it explained her flaws as a person.

I'd stick around for the scene with her godmother at the get together where she says your father said you're like your mother when you've had too much to drink and fleabag lashes out at her. One of the few laugh out loud bits in this largely internalized humourous series which turned out to be a grower and another subtle hit for the BBC,

So willpurry watch more its only another 2 hours

I watched the first two episodes on BBC2, got so hooked that I ended up binge watching the rest immediately afterwards on iPlayer. Impressive stuff, very dark but strangely relatable in some ways

There's definitely a This Life vibe, not sure how much of that is down to the physical similarities between Fleabag and the mighty Anna though.

Loved everything about this series from episode one right through the closing moment's of the finale.

Not sure I've got much to add to the other reviews and opinions people have posted on here. You've pretty much summed up my thoughts.

I don't think another series is necessary though. It was self-contained and the twists and shocks of the final episode could not really be repeated. I don't see where a second series could realistically go.

Ah ha! Now it's clicked. I watched every episode with that niggle in my mind, that niggle that says: "Now who does Fleabag remind me of?"

She's the spit of Daniela Nardini!

Thanks cavalli

yes, but as I said, it's still the same humour as in the first half. For me, there where ' laugh out loud bits' all the way through.

Just caught up on the last episode and found it very profound. Here's a young woman riven with guilt over her friends suicide and it's only now we can see why. Very complex layering of characters showing they're not all one dimensional (except Arsehole Guy!). Although I did find myself shouting at the screen "just tell her no, you're not going to be "staff" for her with the bloody drinks!". I think her sister knew that Fleabag was telling the truth about her creepy husband, but didn't want to accept it, and wanted to play safe rather than taking risk of dumping husband and going to Finland. It seemed to fit Claire's character to a T as she's always played it safe probably as a way of coping after their mum died, and Fleabag instead went off the rails a bit. Olivia Coleman played passive aggressive so well, I found myself getting really wound up by her LOL!

I liked the way it ended, with a slither of hope for the future. Whilst in a way I'd like a second series as I found this so good, I'm also happy to accept that it would end there.
Absolutely - spot on! Loved the whole series, and agree with you that I would be happy enough if we didn't get a second series. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is such a talent though - I will look out for her stuff in future.

PWB has a writing credit on Drifters, I believe.

He'll get a sense of achievement for watching the whole series and perhaps a more rounded appreciation of this type of comedy. Also if it gets mentioned at say a dinner party he will be au fait with the conversation and not left out.

"Fleabag: a gloriously rude update of Bridget Jones's Diary"
Review with 5 Stars from The Telegraph...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/on-demand...diary--review/
with a link to an interview with the writer Phoebe

"Fleabag began life as a fringe play at Edinburgh..." would be really interesting to see this as it was, probably quite intimidating in real life, on stage, raw, right in your face.

I tried to give it a good shot, but I prefer my sit-coms to try and keep the shagging scenes to less than 50% of the actual running time of the show.

I didn't know that but yes, a minor part in the writing. I like PWB and Jessica Knappett.

TQ.

The Guardian loved it too. I think it was too raw and adult for the sensitive tabloids.

They mention the Hugh Dennis monologue as a stand out scene.

OK giving this a chance again, watched three episodes in a row. Wow Olivia Colman's character in this is so subtly nasty!

She and Fleabag's relationship is like a vicious passive-aggressive street fight!
