Actually, having seen the trailer again its growing on me..... I just don't like seeing Diana carrying a sword or shield...
I think that battle has been lost since the George Perez era of the comic book. She uses weapons.

Even in the golden and silver ages there was the occasional sword or spear (here's one).

That continued into the comics Bronze age too....

But really it depended on her opponent. Enemies who shot bullets at her usually got the bracelets, the lasso, then a haymaker.

Perez changed that. As early as the 80s, this is what he was doing. And John Bryne too.

Please take note Ghostbusters, this is how you do a female driven movie, rather than beating the audience over the head with the fact that the leads are female in an attempt to court controversy.
Except they never did that...

Blimey, Gal Gadot is one stunning woman.

The film looks fun and entertaining in the way some of the better superhero movies of recent years have been, such as Iron Man and Captain America.

What I can't believe, however, is that it's not out until the summer of 2017.

They bring out a trailer like that, which is pretty much the finished article, and leave people sitting on it for a year?

I'm no expert on marketing, but I don't know whether that's the best way of doing things.

It seems to be the way Warner Bros are going about their marketing though. Films like Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad have been in the news for what feels like an eternity before their release.

The Suicide Squad trailer was released at Comic Con about a year ago. And they released the Batman Vs Superman trailer a full year before its release too.

They seem to be dragging out the marketing of their films for an absolute eternity, whereas Marvel tend to really kick their marketing into gear about 6 months before the release.

Honestly, I would gladly go and see that Wonder Woman movie if it was out in the cinema now or would be in the next few months. I've seen the trailer. It looked entertaining.

But it's not going to be out for another 10 months to a year? Pfft...

What it seems like to me, is in the early eighties 'girls comics' werent selling. Then perez gave her a sword. That sword is just a substitute penis ....

Her carrying a sheild is worst, though. One of dianas key powers is the ability to deflect bullets of her braclets. Thats big impressive thing. Giving her a sheild diminishes that..

It's far from finished. Remember, they have to go in and digitally remove every smile, every ray of sunshine, edit out anything that even resembles fun and replace it with scowling and sneering, to make it seem like a real DC movie.

Joking aside, there really is a ton of post and effects work that has to be done on a movie like this, before it's ready for release.

I'm no expert on marketing, but I don't know whether that's the best way of doing things.
Inviting a bunch of journalists to the JL set a few weeks ago, to show that they had supposedly learned their lessons, made it fairly obvious that WB are desperate to get some positive headlines for the DC EU (pronounced "DC Eeew"). And it made sense to take advantage of the fact that Marvel didn't have much to show at Comic Con this year.

I think the idea of her deflecting everything that's thrown at her with her bracelets really stretches the realms of believability when it comes to a modern, action-filled movie like this.

I mean, look in the trailer at the moment where she's being peppered with bullets by a machine gun in the middle of no-man's land (at about 1:50 seconds in) and deflecting them with her shield. I think it would just be too much of a stretch for the audience to accept her stopping all of those bullets with her bracelets alone.

And the idea that she's really under assault from these modern killing machines, rather than simply batting hundreds of bullets travelling at hundreds of metres per second out of the air, adds to the dramatic tension.

One thing I will say is that they've got Etta Candy absolutely perfect.

I'm quietly optimistic about this, reminds me of the first Captain America film.

I loved that era. My favourite ever Wonder Woman. I'm hoping if Greg Rucka carries on as he has started that it might have a rival.

My problem with her in the 1st World War is that America was no more on the "good" side than Germany was on the "bad" there was no particular need for her to get involved in that war.

In 50 years time will we be seeing Wonder Woman fighting for the Americans in Gulf Wars 1 & 2

Don't like her much, Lynda Carter's shadow looms large. Never been into the whole Amazon type woman, she seemed a little too serious.

So true. Ghostbusters was just an all-female cast. I can't think of a time when that was hit over anyone's head. In fact, the only shocking thing is all the negative responses to an all-girl cast.

About Wonder Woman. The only expectations I have are for it to be terrible. After the abysmal Doctor Strange, I think I'll just avoid it entirely. I'm done with having my superheroes ruined in these terrible movies.

This movie will make or break the DCEU (or whatever they're calling it). It's the first time they've beaten Marvel to the punch and the first standalone that isn't relying on Batman or Superman (or their imagery).

This actually looks really good which after the disasters of Batman/Superman and Suicide Squad is encouraging.

You appear to be in the minority with this. I've heard nothing but good things about it, both first hand, and through reviews. I have yet to see the film myself yet though, hopefully in a week or two.

Green Lantern?

As with Doctor Strange, I thought Suicide Squad was well received?
