The young lad who plays Paul might have filmed some extra scenes before he left, Maybe they are holding back the scenes that were filmed with Ben and Paul in Soho so that we get a flashback episode like Lucy flashback and Phil and Lisa in Spain years back when Phil tells the copper he was seeing what really happened to Lisa etc etc.
I think we need to see what really happened in Soho if there is supposed to be much more to it.

I don't think there's meant to be loads more to it. I expect Ben legged it thinking Paul would follow. That's probably the big 'reveal' we're waiting for.

Funny you should say that, as a friend of mine saw Jonny Labey entering Elstree studios yesterday...

With a folder under his arm.

How about Ben telling us what really happened, so we dont need a flashback

If there's one good thing to come out of the shambolic mess of a show that DTC has left behind, it's that folder companies are absolutely thriving.

Thanks.

Realistically, they couldn't really show a flashback, for the same reason I suspect they didn't show the incident 'live'. That is that to show the full horror of a hate crime (which a homophobic attack is) both verbally and physically, it wouldn't be suitable pre watershed.

To make it okay to air in that timeslot, it would make light of a very serious crime. It probably would just look like a bit of light teasing which somebody should be able to shrug off and ignore.

Well from what we understand that's what it was. Ben then decided to hit the ****ers rather than walk away.

We don't know that Ben hit first. All that we have been told so far is that the Homophobes called Ben and Paul faggots then Ben started mouthing off at them. Who took the first punch is up in the air at the moment. I still struggle to understand why people assume it was Ben who took the first punch when it most likely that it was the Homophobes. Either way the Ben is in no way to blame for Paul's death, the only people to blame are the Homophobes as they started the fight.

Maybe he was sacked for losing the folder leaving a space in the cast for the return of Ms Tully

This and This

There was no need to show the incident anyway, the episodes were so well acted and directed that the scenes of violence were never required in the first place and I think it has been played perfectly up to now

Thanks

Yes, obviously we know from what Ben has said, but even though he used the f word, the reality probably featured much worse language than that which they wouldn't be able to show.

I actually don't think they need to show it, i think Ben's broken telling of it, and the imagination of the horror of it is more effective than anything they could put on screen at that time of the evening.

As other's have said, they wouldn't be able to portray a homophobic attack in a realistic way as it wouldn't be suitable for the timeslot. Some people have most likely contacted Ofcom already because the f word was used. If they had shown the attack, it would have taken away the drama, as being off screen it is left up to the viewer to interpret what the attack would have been like and it adds to the drama because we only know what happened by Ben's account of it.
