Maybe a "Music Icons" night where each couple dances to a piece of music by a legendary artiste (possibly someone who is now deceased).

Don't mind a bit of a theme week, in fact I quite like the movie/Hollywood/whatever one. That being said, I do wish that the producers realise that the audience can appreciate a bit of subtlety.
A couple of years ago Ola and some bloke whose name I can't be bothered to Google did a rumba to a song from Aladdin complete with comedy flying carpet and Ola in a dark wig. None of that was needed, just maybe discretely themed costumes and it'd have been fine, we'd have got it. See also GG's foxtrot complete with dancing furniture that got in the sodding way. Less is more and all that. And, Jay's jive complete with a poundshop wig! I'm on the fence about Halloween week it's produced some classics ( Patrick and Anya) but also some complete messes, case in point- I give you Sophie EB's jive! I'd like a theme/story free week, you know where the couples just dance. I don't need a 30 second, scene setting preamble, for there to be a story in the dance or for it to be set in anywhere other than a dancefloor. I can cope if the couples just come on, dance and just trot over to the judges when they're done. Ashley Taylor Dawson, that was his name!!! |

Keep Blackpool in the middle of the competition, this works
After Blackpool all the poor dancers have left and the good dancers have some training in their legs, so there is no need for themes from this point on For the first half of the series we need themes, seeing couples do classic dancers badly week in week out until all of the less able dancers have been eliminated would be boring Halloween seems to be a given, although surely they will run out of ideas soon Films/Broadway/West End always works well Disney does give some great characters and music, although it might be an idea to slash the costume and props budget for that week I always like to learn something of the history of the dances, although they did a dance through the decades one year and it wasn't very clear what was going on I am not adverse to other dance styles coming in, especially in the pro dances. I've said it before I would like to see Northern Soul at Blackpool |

I would ditch all of them except Halloween, which is always good fun and nice for kids to see all the wonderful make-up / costumes. They also should stick to ballroom and Latin, what they do best, definitely no Northern soul - just wouldn't work ! They have NS dance championships at Blackpool anyway so doesn't need to be on Strictly.

I would love for them to give Halloween a rest or make it every 2 years, but they won't. I don't mind the musicals and movie week themes but the producers need to remember that each couple needs a good dance and not just music with a fitting title. The producers would do well to remember that every week though!

I second the Classical Week idea, there's a lot of great music that you can wring a lot of drama out of. We've had O Fortuna, O mio caro babbino, Beethoven's 5th and Swan Lake before, but there's a lot of readymade waltzes (and stuff that sounds dramatic enough to be paso doble) out there. I know it's not the most accessible, popular music out there, but a lot of it's very stirring and easy to enjoy even if you're particularly into the genre. Only thing is a load of classical numbers all on one night would be very demanding on the band. (But hey, maybe Katie Derham can guest judge
)I'd also quite like a Eurovision week. Can't wait to see Pasha dressed up as Verka Seduchka. |

![]() I know it's radical, but I think we could cope ![]() And while we're at it, how about a return to some decent pro routines too? I think I could manage without the seeing pros dancing around washing machines and Kevin running about in his underpants again! o

![]() I know it's radical, but I think we could cope ![]() ![]() I still cringe every time I remember Georgia & Giovanni's Foxtrot with the backing dancers not actually dancing (because they could barely move in those stupid costumes) and not doing anything except for blocking the judges' view of the dancefloor

A silent week (without props or backing dancers) where we have to work out/guess what song or piece of music they're dancing to.
