Beatles week is a great idea. All for either a movie or musicals week but not both (get a little samey), maybe brand it as "Stage and Screen" Week or something

Eurovision? How would that work - would you have all the contestants singing instead of dancing?

Uniform week- for the kinky.
Eurotrash week- for the kinky.
Bungee week- partners can not start thirty feet from each other like in those soppy waltzes or split too far, or weird things happen. Plus maybe it could get a bit kinky.
I think there's a connection between all this but I just can't work it out

Legoland week. Celebs have to build their partner out of lego and dance a samba with them.

No more ridiculous than all the other themed weeks.

No idea what theme weeks they should have BUT 1) they should be few (very few) and far between and 2) they shouldn't be an excuse to chuck the rules - and proper dance content - out of the window.

It's a Knockout week.

Bungee cords as mentioned above.
Doing a Rumba, on a revolving platform, with the judges throwing buckets of water over the dancers.
The Quickstep on a greased runway
Argentine Tango dressed as a giant troll.

Obviously Stuart Hall is not available to commentate, but they guy who plays Rory in Mrs Browns Boys does nothing but laugh hysterically at anything - so he would be great at adding "colour".

Seriously - a "back catalogue" night.
All music comes from one songwriter or composer.

You would need someone with a huge and varied body of work
John Barry (did so much more than Bond)
Barry Gibb
Graham Gouldman
Burt Bacharach
Don Black
Stephen Sondheim

If still alive they could lead the orchestra - maybe even do the vocals

Yep that gets my vote. And if they must, authentic Argentine Tango with proper steps not just posing under lamp posts and kicking legs about next to chairs. Oh and authentic salsa with appropriate music. It doesn't HAVE to be Cuban (although that would be preferable) but should be Latin and have the right tempo and rhythm.

What about an "Adam & Eve" week with all the couples wearing nothing but fig leaves?

At least the costume budget would be next to nothing and spare us from some of the monstrosities of past years!

The show would have to be scheduled for a later evening slot though.

In memoriam - where the music comes from "those we have lost this year".

2016 obviously a poignant year - but so much music choice.
Bowie, Eagles, ELP, Prince, Earth Wind & Fire.

Someone could even try a Charleston to Victoria Wood's "Let's Do It".
By someone I obviously mean Lesely Joseph !!!

How about a " Grewt New Singers" theme, as we do not have new singing talent on weekend TV.

Like this

I wouldn't mind splitting the field into half latin/half ballroom each week but al dancing the same dance. Also make difficulty ratio between ballroom & latin fair, so you wouldn't see half doing the rhumba say against a waltz!!

The only theme I quite like is Haloween, I'd prefer the rest of the series to be without props, themes etc.

None. I hate theme weeks, especially Halloween. The music choices are mostly terrible and inappropriate, and I hate the use of props and backing dancers.

If we absolutely have to have a theme week, then I'd begrudgingly choose Musicals week, but only if we can have songs from Hollywood's classic musicals era rather than umpteen Disney songs.
