Reading some of the comments on this thread, totally distorting the facts and who is the real villain here makes me cry for humanity...but i'll soldier on.

So they react to Hughie's insufferable insults and excuses and the fact he can't listen and he's a hypocrite, because they are Alpha males who feel threatened?

How are they bullies? The definition of a bully is someone who says and does particular things to deliberately hurt/upset/intimidate someone. How have Andy and Jason done that?

Stupid people feel intimidated by intelligence. It's as simple as that.

I thought he looked embarrassed and humble even when the HMs that picked him were speaking positively about him. I sometimes think people mistake his natural expression for smugness as people keep saying that he is smug but he doesn't seem to be acting smug to me.

If you meant it in a humorous way, then you should have used the smiley to indicate that. And also, I wouldn't advise joking about bullying. It's a serious issue that affects a lot of people in the world.
