I've seen this expression numerous times on here tonight alone. Mostly re Hughie but also re Sam.

I think it's a disgusting, infantile, school-yard bullying comment and it is really, really irritating me. It's the kind of thing that nasty, nasty 13 year olds say to a child who doesn't fit in.

No-one in that house looks like they need a wash, or smell like poo (as another genius posted tonight).

If you can't come up with criticisms that are related to their personalities or behaviour, you probably shouldn't bother exercising your fingers.

I feel you need to confront these members directly in the topics as and when these comments occur rather than starting an oblique new topic about them less it gives rise to claims that you never said anything about it at the time and all of a sudden you blew up about it like your just doing it just for effect.
Plus the zebra could do with a wash.

You neither have to read nor comment on a thread if you feel it's not worthwhile. It's fairly simple.

As to why I don't bring it up when I see the posts - I'd want to have nothing else to do. There have been dozens of these comments today and tonight.

I think it's unnecessary to comment on other's appearances in a negative way.

You could have a standard response saved in notepad that you could just copy and paste - it would take you quite little time relative to the time that it takes to obviously read the dozens of topics themselves - you just copy and paste and hey presto - done.

For a discussion you don't think should be taking place, you're giving quite a bit of time to this yourself.

Well a little time - now that youve engaged me in conversation it would be rude not to reply.
So if you feel strongly about it but (understandably) dont want to spend too long drawing up replies to all these dozens of offenders individually woudnt a copy and paste response be the perfect answer.

A separate thread might, however, make people reflect on how infantile and ugly this kind of comment is.

It's also a really sexist comment and often said about men with hair that isn't super short. For years, Harry Styles used to get comments like this every time there was an article about him. Women with long hair never get told they need a wash.

Maybe. Lets hope there are dozens of offenders reflecting and repenting their misconduct at this very moment having read your topic. Hey maybe some of them might even post and apologise for their comments.

Russell Brand used to get the same comments too.

I think that was mainly to do with his odd coiffure.

In fairness, I think it's because their hair looks greasy and well.... In need of a wash! I doubt it's just because they have long hair. I bet nobody said that the Mmm Bop lads looked like they needed a wash - because their hair was lush! If a woman had greasy hair I'm sure people would comment on how it looked like it needs washing.

I'm not sure how people in the forum who were saying these people look like they need a wash meant it but: it might just be an observation rather than an insult to their appearance just because they don't like them. Sometimes people can just look grubby for whatever reason. It's jut like saying someone could do with a shave.

This thread is false advertising - I wanted to know WHO looks like they need a wash!

Were you also upset when there were numerous posts about how Marco looked like he needed a good wash? I don't recall that bothering you or you mentioning it back when it was said about Marco but I may not be remembering it all correctly.

I think this is correct. It's the greasy hair. Marco's hair was also greasy.

There are thousands of negative comments regarding the appearance of HMs every series.

a few from this series, mostly aimed at the women

she's too fat
her legs are lumpy
she looks pregnant
he has acne on his neck
his teeth are too white
her roots are showing
her chin is too big - or is receding
she doesn't have nice bone structure
her bum is too big - too small
her breasts are fake looking - droopy - too small - uneven - too big
she needs a shave down there
his/her skin is orange
she has a double chin
he has lego hair
her eyebrows are fake - too high - too thick - too thin
her forehead doesn't move
he needs some work

I think Hughie and Sam have got off easy.

Since when were observations made about HM's considered to be 'infantile'?

Marco always looked as if he needed a good scrub!
Hughie quite often looks messy!
Sam quite often looks messy!
Andy at times, looks messy!
Ryan looked messy!

It's all about personal perception, & the HM's put themselves in the firing line by appearing on national TV, so yes they will be criticised (fairly or unfairly), on their appearance, just as much as their personalities/actions will be discussed.

So did Marco, but then again he never did shower his whole stay in the house (apparently) 😖

I'm sorry but Marco looked filthy. I wouldn't say that necessarily about any of the others.

I've mostly stayed off the BB forum this year because, more than ever, there's just so much nastiness and negativity, about any little thing. Its not been much fun reading the threads.

Although I have posted that I dislike Jackson and think he's all sorts of false, ultimately, they are just a bunch of strangers who we'll have forgotten about as soon as CBB starts.

So making a comment that they look like they need a good wash makes them a bully? My God! This takes the biscuit. I think some people don't know what bullying really is. Many victims of real bullying would have issue with that.

Now come on Polly, play the game a bit. We all know that you shouldn't have added 'Lego hair' to that list. Whilst admittedly it was over-played eventually I think whoever came up with it first should be commended on quite an inspired comedic insult. It took effort to come up with that and it completely landed in people minds. How dare you equate it to saying "X is fat." - that's like comparing sparkling wine to champagne.

For shame!

Actually now I think about it... I think Lateysha came up with it first...

...oh...

Okay, as you were.
