I heard somewhere that sky are showing the Chinese super league next weekend. Two matches in fact. Both 12.35 kick offs on Saturday and Sunday

The sky planner simply says live football for this coming Saturday SS3

Is this true and if so a one of or now a weekly occurance?

I can't find anything in my usual places but they may be updated in the coming days!!
Id be highly surprised if Sky only had a deal for a few games as that would be silly IMHO, so if they do have the rights, then id expect the whole season

Ehhh, said to be the most corrupt, rigged and illicit gambling industry infiltrated league on the planet. So if you Sky customers see something unusual in these games like the keeper letting one through his legs, or a striker missing an inexplicably wide open goal scoring chance. Don't just put it down to ineptitude.

A couple of rounds are listed with matches TBC.

The rights are probably very cheap atm most bookies stream China Super League matches. And I guess Sky are going with a trial run to see how many people tune in, especially with a number of big signings now in China.

Better time zone than the MLS. And more players in their actual prime than faded stars

Wouldn't those 1235 ko's clash with their premier league games? Would make sense to show the Friday games & then earlier ko games on the weekend

If they ran La Liga games at the same time why wouldn't they run Chinese matches?

I have hunted around for some press blurb but can't locate anything related to this other than some releases related to IMG's acquisition for the global rights at the beginning of this year. Since IMG have started marketing the rights the league has been picked up in a few European countries most notably France.

There was at one point a pan-European deal concluded by Eurosport who showed a couple of games when Drogba spent a few months over there but that fizzled out and was never something the channel reprised. This coincided with Eurosport scaling back their coverage of Asian football in general dropping live J-League coverage and their Asian Champions League matches. (A pity in my view as these matches certainly added to the diversity of football coverage)

Nevertheless no surprise a UK deal has been agreed although I am a little surprised to see Sky move in for this given the games on the Saturday will collide with their Premiership coverage. With a bit of luck Sky will repeat these games as they do with their MLS and Eredivisie coverage so we can still catch up with games after the event.

Also a little disappointing it's taken this length of time to get the deal sorted out as the games get pitched into an increasingly busy market with the start of the Premiership and Football League.

I'm guessing Saturday will be: Henan Jianye - Guangzhou (http://www.sfrsport2.com/guide-tv) - typically these games are selected by the rights holder so what gets shown in France will also be through Sky Sports in the UK too.

Not sure about Sunday yet as the French website is still showing TBC

Is this what Sky Sports has now had to resort to, heralding this as the best thing since sliced bread, thinking it is worthy enough "breaking news" to send a push notification through on my phone on the Sky Football app?

How the mighty have fallen.

Thanks for the above link - it looks like the French TV station might show a different Chinese game to their English counterparts unless there is a change of game which the French website haven't caught up with yet.

Strange to say the least. Viewing figures will be tiny IMO.

I would imagine the rights won't cost a lot and with a few bigger name players playing there, it's probably worth giving it a shot.

Having read your post I'm sure they've now reconsidered and are busily looking for a way to cancel the contract.

That's pure opinion.

In fairness with the money being thrown about from China - as random sports contract pick ups go - this isn't really that random. Someone was bound to pick it up sooner or later.

I would expect most of it to end up behind the red button / only available offline / on Sky Sports Mix anyway.

This may also replace the Dutch league.

Great news to see the deal confirmed. This is a great league, and I think football fans will be genuinely thrilled to see some exciting matches as the season draws to a climax.

It's a big deal. It means football fans will have even more action to feast on during busy weekends.

Obviously on its own it's not hugely significant. But it adds even more value to a Sky Sports subscription, and guarantees football fans more great live action for no extra charge. No Sky customer will be complaining.

Will this be another ISL (Indian Super League). What happened to that?

No, Chinese football is more established and has a huge following at home. The game is attracting a lot of money and top players. It's only going to get bigger and better.
