No, Chinese football is more established and has a huge following at home. The game is attracting a lot of money and top players. It's only going to get bigger and better.

It's a big deal. It means football fans will have even more action to feast on during busy weekends.
Obviously on its own it's not hugely significant. But it adds even more value to a Sky Sports subscription, and guarantees football fans more great live action for no extra charge. No Sky customer will be complaining. Do you work for Sky? Your post sounds remarkably as cheesy as a Sky PR sheet. |

I would call it more "filler" than "big deal". The Premier League is a big deal, Chinese Super League is not.

No, I'm just a very happy customer. And I'm thrilled that I'll get to enjoy even more live football this season. I wouldn't mind seeing some J League on Sky too eventually.

Not a surprise, giving the amount of money being thrown around in China. Bear in mind, there is a lot of Chinese people living in this country, it will no doubt drive subs. BT would have been in the mix for the rights as well, no doubt about it.

Crazy stab in the dark but I would hazard a guess that the Premier League is bigger than the CSL in China. |

I don't get all the hate for Sky getting the rights for this, it's not like they are forcing you to watch every match that they show.
I think it's a decent pick up for Sky with some of the big name signings over there. |

Great news to see the deal confirmed. This is a great league, and I think football fans will be genuinely thrilled to see some exciting matches as the season draws to a climax.

Leagues of this level are the only thing that Sky can add to their football coverage. Quote:
Sky Sports has added yet another competition to its unrivalled schedule of live football with the addition of the Ping An Chinese Football Association Super League (CSL).
Unrivalled? That's stretching the truth somewhat."Fancy watching the Bundesliga or Ligue 1 today?" "Nah, I'll stick with the Chinese league." - Said no one ever. |

Is this what Sky Sports has now had to resort to, heralding this as the best thing since sliced bread, thinking it is worthy enough "breaking news" to send a push notification through on my phone on the Sky Football app?
How the mighty have fallen. ![]() Im glad im not alone in that thinking. I was quite surprised they felt the need for the notification alert to brag they have rights to a league that won't get more than a few thousand viewers at most when they show games live! Scoring a massive rights deal for something worthy yes, but Chinese football...... No! |

I don't hate them for it. On the other hand, it's not amazing and it's not that newsworthy enough to send a push notification through to my phone in order to tell me.

To be honest do you need ANY push notifications on the Sky SCORE CENTRE app? I have given up on that app now. Surely that should all come from the main Sky Sports app?

You have to wonder just how much 'live' football can people take? This sort of thing would be better on freeview where live football is very much a rarity, so would likely pick up a bit of a following. Can't ever imagine me bothering to watch any of these games. |

![]() ![]() ![]() BT has been a disaster for the competition. UEFA is well known to want the flagship sports broadcaster Sky back on board with a terrestrial broadcaster like ITV screening some games. |

There's a very good chance the Champions League will be coming home to Sky soon. I believe we're just months away from the next round of Champions League rights being awarded.

A few over the hill players have gone there, and a few mercenaries have gone just for the cash. This is a lame duck, who on earth is going to watch this rubbish? What next on sky Blow football live! |

BT has been a disaster for the competition. UEFA is well known to want the flagship sports broadcaster Sky back on board with a terrestrial broadcaster like ITV screening some games. So if they wanted Sky onboard then why did they do the BT deal in the first place, plus I am certain that Sky won't get it back with the cost-cutting they are doing. They have spent 5 billion on new PL rights, nearly a billion on exclusive F1 rights from 2019 so I can't see how Sky are going find one and a half billion to get CL rights. The only option really is BT to renew for exclusive rights but perhaps sub-licence FTA games to ITV while still being allowed to show the games they have sub-licenced. |
