I wish this was the ending to season 6. The six month break has lessened the shock for me.

Actually I think a hardened fighting outfit like Rick's team would probably act more like Maggie and vow to fight to the death after treatment like that.

Yes, I don't normally bother with it but I'll watch this discussion of the wickedness!

Amid the horror I did kind of laugh a bit at Glenn's popped eyeball.

They've talked about that 'I'll find you line' that was mysteriously cut for us. Never realised Maggie actress has an English accent!!

She's got a weird English/American mash up accent! She was born in America but moved to England at 13 according to wiki.

Huh, I'm fairly sure they cut Glenn's "Maggie, I'll find you" line out of the 9pm showing, wonder why.
And the bit where he was twitching on the floor.

He did and that's why Negan chose to break him further

Yes it really should have been the end of the last season. It was just cheap to leave it till now, personally I didn't really care who died, and it wasn't that brutal for me.

It just felt like an episode left over and we begin the season proper next week.

Treat to get the ad free on demand version before the 9pm showing. Hope that continues.

Used to wait until Tuesday to watch.

stop, watching, then, it has always been brutal and this, episode, was, doomed to be exactly that

do no understand your point at all

you want a more PC version, of a show, that is about survival in an apocalpyse, over run by, the undead

Pig trough scene far more sinister for me.

I was expecting gruesome. Between myself and the lad we got it spot on. Anyway it's always good to see new character development, this series is so good at it.

Well that was utterly brutal. It felt a bit annoying that they strung the reveal out but at the same time it helped to ratchet up the tension with Rick having to retrieve that damn hatchet.

I kind of knew Abraham was going to be the one to die - was it a line from the S6 finale when Negan said "..took it like a pro" or something? Definitely made me think that Abraham would be the one tough enough to stand up to the first blow.

I was very shocked to see Glenn taken out as well, though. After all the fan comments about him being indestructible I was beginning to think that was actually the case.

To be honest I'm not that bothered about Abe dying, I thought his character was fairly one-dimensional. Glenn, however, is one of very few who have been there since the beginning and although he's been annoying at times it was still a gut-punch.

Great over-the-top performance from the guy who plays Negan, though, and actually it was pretty much an acting masterclass from all the cast. The way they all looked simultaneously terrified, grief-stricken and furious was really well played.

I'm now just a bit concerned that the rest of the season is going to be a slow drag until the inevitable end of season big finish (and the group's revenge?) And I hope Maggie doesn't go all mopey but instead goes full-on psycho Carol style.

Am I the only one that didn't find it as gruesome as everyone else? Thought it was done quite well. Roll on next week.

I think the problem for me is that I just don't care enough about the characters anymore. Having the 'reveal' at the end of the last season might have helped. Over the months I've sort of forgotten bits and bobs and lost the little connection I had left. So we head straight into a situation that needs an emotional connection to some of the characters, to share their loss. We needed the reveal at the end of last season and let us start to reconnect with the characters again.

It doesn't help that Negan is a pretty 2 dimensional baddie. There isn't the nuance of the Governor. Despite what the writers/actor etc say there is no ambiguity to him. Hes just a boring stereotype.

I still want to love the show. But not sure if I really do anymore.

To be fair I've kind of felt this way since my T-Dog Big Tyreese had his totally stupid, pointless and predictable end. Still sulking.

I wonder if they filmed the what if scenarios as the bat hits each character for a split second to try and throw fans off the scent.
They actually filmed a full death scene for Maggie (in place of Abraham).

Not sure if they did one for all the characters or not.

Funny the other half did as well, she can't watch the Zombies, they really do scare her. Popeye Glenn as she named him, was a good laugh.
