Have you ever watched reality TV? By definition it is "real people" NOT zombies or Negan or characters in a TV show.

I'm not sure I'd be happy if my reality had zombies roaming around my front lawn or Negan wielding Lucille around as a scare tactic in front of the school gates.

I hope they continue to duplicate all the Negan scenes. One candy-ass version for AMC and the reality version for blu ray, where every other effing word out of Negan's filthy mouth is a MF-ing F-word. The problem I have with the broadcast version of Negan is that he is far too cute.

I recently watched a movie called 'Violent Saturday' (excellent blu ray) in which Lee Marvin establishes the nature of his character by deliberately stepping on a child's hand. I was more affected by that, than anything Negan did with 'Lucille'. And that movie was made in 1955.....

why do people feel the need to say things like this, knowing full well they will still carry on watching.

One of the things that I like about TWD is the small amount of swearing (the same with Breaking Bad). It seems more natural. The only F word that I can remember was on the bluray when they were at Terminus and that was fully justified.

I don't mind swearing but I do wonder if some shows are paid by the F word. Westworld is a good example where the swearing totally grates on me and quite often there will be 2 F words in the same sentence.

There is actually a version of the Negan scene in last seasons finale where he does use the F word every sentance. It should be on Youtube. I don't know if they will continue to do that or not.


And as for those not watching, they will watch. Believe me, people don't just break habits, if they've truly sat and watched this show for 6 years, I don't care what show it is, you don't break that habit overnight. They will be watching next week, same bat time, same bat channel, no question about it. Same with many shows. X Factor, the BBC baking show, your Big Brother, your Towie. People like routine. People don't break their routines easily.

And secondly, nothing on TV is real, even the so called reality shows are fixed. Nothing is real. Everything is make believe so don't watch any TV show and try and base it on real life and what YOU might do in that situation or what someone else WOULD do in that situation, it's entertainment, it's showbusiness. 17 million in America watched this episode. It's the biggest TV show in the world, why? Because of the stories and the characters, the zombies is just to hook you in, Game Of Thrones is the same, the setting is just to hook you in, it doesn't matter if you like zombies or historical settings, what about the BIg Bang Theory? A show based on geeks. That's to hook you in, why do you watch? Because of the characters and the stories. All these massive TV shows have different settings, different places, different versions of reality but they only hook you in, it's just to get you to watch, the reason you watch is for the characters.

I used to watch Big Brother and The X Factor all the time but suddenly just stopped as I got bored of them, I didn't feel the need to come on the forums and announce I'm not watching it any more though because when I get bored of a show I don't care enough to talk about it.

As for the swearing, I don't find it offensive if anything think it probably should be used more in this show, I know I'd be cursing a lot if a hoard of zombies was heading towards me lol.

Very true. This first episode - however shocking it was - is setting up a huge storyline and now I'm over the shock and have accepted that Glen is now gone, I am more than ever intrigued as to how the rest of the community will deal with the situation.

I agree with much of what you say however I will certainly keep watching as the show still very much has the potential to be interesting. I've always wondered about why there are so many really awful people left after the apocalypse and decided it is to do with the dire world they are now in which actually suits psychopaths and murderers more so they would thrive whilst more decent people die very easily.

I've also considered why Rick et al don't just top themselves but the show has attempted to answer this by suggesting how important life, any life is. Personally I think I would opt for topping myself if their world was my world but of course if they did we wouldn't have a show.

Hopefully we will start to see a different side and possibly nicer society with .

Well its friday night, Which meant TWD night. Yes it really is and should be a friday night program. Sadly twatting people on Facebook cant help but put shit up for others too see, which I even went out my way to keep away from. Only to view my car groups but as usual news feed feel the need to pop spoilers up.

But the award goes to the biggest shites that run youtube app. Why they feel the need to alert me on my phone, while im trying to sleep exactly who gets it. No need for it. Sadly having to go through my settings to disable notifications should not warrant unwanted alerts.

Overall I enjoyed the episode and such a shame to see the 2nd one go. The 1st one was a brilliant character and shall be missed.

For anybody that wanted to see the episode as the producers intended, both the 9pm and 11pm were cut on Fox. The version on Sky Go, however is uncut.

I'm so confused by everyone who has said this show was too gruesome or that they took it too far.

It's a show about zombies.
It was gruesome but not that gruesome.
Negan in any real life situation would have been a lot worse.....he would have cut of Carl's hand.
A lot of other shows are just as gruesome....banshee has had some shocking scenes in it.
As has American horror stories latest season.


Now had any of these events happened in emmerdale or casualty I would understand everyone's shock.....but it's a comic book....made into a TV show about zombies.......it isn't real

I think the last episode effected viewers a lot because it pretty much destroyed the group, for many that means the end of the series. The tone changed to the point that you wonder where they can go, the comic obviously did to but how will that translate to TV? Some say it was unrealistic but in a way is was too real, too close to the bone. Seeing Rick a blubbering mess, broken to nothing. I’m still not sure, as great as that acting was if I wanted to take on that heavy emotional toll while watching a zombie series, how much despair do you want to witness? It veered from the cartoon violence to the very real.

I think the whole emotional weight of it shifted to much more serious, which is why I think some are throwing their hands up, not just because of the gore we have all seen before. Personally I am interested to see if they can reel back a bit of normalcy and keep it fresh. I was getting bored so welcome a shift but it is very close to going too far for me, too serious. I wanted Glenn dead but I didn’t wanna see he eye busted out of his skull by a bat! Minus the sadism the gore is much different, face peeled off by zombie would have been easier to stomach.

So I get why people have complained about it, it was definitely a risky move to make, for a tv show. You could see it as a gimmick, or the needed shock factor for an episode that was hyped for months. I think it falls somewhere between, there some unnecessary shock factor stuff there but there is also some great symbolism that encompasses the Walking Dead theme.

In a post apocalypse situation in real life things would be a lot worst people would just kill others for food.

I caught up with this on Wednesday. I'd avoided spoilers, but I think it lost a lot of its impact first because of the 6 month gap between episodes, and second because of they way they played games with time. They jumped back and forwards over Abraham's death, had visions of past events that didn't happen, and even a vision of a future event that can't happen. They spun out the reveal of the first victim for too long. Also, I didn't much care about Abraham anyway, and Glenn's death had been teased so many times that I just wanted him dead already. Basically, this was an opportunity squandered.


But Negan wasn't doing it out of sadism, or even out of revenge. He was doing it to establish dominance, and recruit a new group to his empire. He will now take 50% of what Rick's group produces for a while, and eventually assimilate them entirely. He's doing it partly for profit, and partly as his way of rebuilding civilisation. The reality is that he's been a lot more successful than Rick; his way works.


I think the first clash between Rick's group and Negan's group was with Abraham in the road. However, Daryl killed them all and it seems like Negan never found out what happened.

I think it's interesting that there was no retaliation for what Rick's group had done. Negan always kills one person in each community they meet. We saw that in the road encounter with Abraham, and we heard about it from Hilltop. At Hilltop they beat a teenage boy to death, which was arguably worse than what happened to Abraham. If Rick and Daryl had kowtowed then, only Abraham would have been killed and they'd have got off surprisingly lightly.


Really? Rick has been broken before. In the prison, he was seeing hallucinations of his dead wife. He was having telephone conversations with dead people. He was making bad decisions, like casting Tyreese out for no reason. We've also had the group taken prisoner by cannibals, penned up in a cargo container and waiting to be slaughtered and eaten. This isn't their lowest ebb. They've lost two people, maybe three if they can't get Daryl back.

I think it was affective because of showing Glenn with a broken skull and obvious brain-damage, struggling to speak to Maggie.

I couldn't watch the gruesome bits but found the lego version on YouTube. The animator has used the actual sound from the show so now I know what was said and what happened. The number of hits is what surprised me. He smashed their skulls beyond what was necessary to kill and enjoyed it. I will keep reading the recap before watching because this is just too much for me. You can do so much on the written page but it is different in live action. They did it to reflect the comics but it just seems gratuitous to me. Hopefully this week's episode will be more uplifting.

I found the last 2 episodes of The Fall much more gruesome than the episode as it was very realistic.

AMC is a basic cable channel in the States and is therefore subject to more stringent controls on swearing and nudity. Violence is another matter though, they don't seem to curb that at all (which is astonishing).
Westworld is on HBO a pay cable channel, they can basically get away with a lot, as long as it is not porn.

Negus is brutal, of that there is no doubt & I can't wait for him to be 'put to bed' & the mote brutal & gory, the better as far as I'm concerned.

Non-scenes are often filling in chunks of an episode.

I was gradually feeling that Abraham's character was moving away from the 1-dimensional man he joined the gang with.
And often, when a character "softens" they become fodder for the producers' poisoned finger.

Glenn... yeah I obviously felt for poor Maggie, but he should have been dead a number of times. Part of me even wondered if he would somehow escape his mortality yet again even after being struck twice.
