The only thing that made me wince in the whole series so far was Rick's group killing Negan's group while they were sleeping , the rest has been comic book violence . I don't get why anyone would want to watch a show like this for 6 seasons and then get upset by some good make up effects .

This isn't their lowest ebb. They've lost two people, maybe three if they can't get Daryl back.

I think it was affective because of showing Glenn with a broken skull and obvious brain-damage, struggling to speak to Maggie.”

Yeah that stuff was bad but it took it further in that episode. You can’t tell me that Rick was lower than that point with Negan, or the group for that matter. They just watched two of their own slaughtered in front of their eyes and possible Carl getting maimed, has Maggie been lower after seeing Glenn’s head bashed in? My point is the tone is a lot lower now, by Walking Dead standards that mean down right depressive lol

The reality is that he's been a lot more successful than Rick; his way works.”

Whilst he wasn't doing it out of sadism, the way he did it clearly indicates he has sadistic tendencies. If you want to establish dominance by showing you can kill anyone at anytime, you simply pull out a gun and shoot someone. Or two. Quick, clean and takes no effort whatsoever. The only reason to take the time, trouble and energy to kill in the way he did is because he enjoys it. He's even given his weapon of choice a fairly quaint female name. He doesn't kill simply as a means to an end. This is a man who obviously loves his work.

I'm guessing he named it after someone he knew. I think using the bat instead of a gun is more frightening and it will scare them more, but can't deny he didn't enjoy, to do something like that with a massive grin you have to be crazy.

Movies and series are meant to make you feel emotions. I cried when Rick was reunited with his family and again when Glenn and Maggie were reunited in the tunnel. I found the Terminus slaughterhouse scene terrifying and I found this weeks episode very upsetting. The producers have therefore done their job.

I think that anybody that wasn't upset by this episode, isn't enjoying it as much as the people that were because we were meant to be upset.

Glenn's demise differs between versions, most notably he says to Maggie in his dying words "I'll find you", which was cut from the versions that I saw on Sky Atlantic.

before I went to bed last night I checked the Radio Times for anything to put on the 'to watch' list for today and am a bit confused.....

Apparently at 9pm tonight on Fox we have Episode 2 of series 7

Monday night at 9.00pm we have Episode 3 of series 7

that can't be right ?.........

I suspect it's simple confusion between Sky Atlantic and Fox. Don't worry, Atlantic doesn't show any WD stuff, so you haven't missed anything.

Why is picture always so grainy on fox? It was fine up close but the rest of it was awful.

I think it's intentional. Even the bluray are very grainy. It's more noticeable in HD and especially in some scenes such as Rick and Negan in the fog.

Yes that looked awful. Only time it look good was close ups of their faces.

It's filmed on 16mm which gives it that grainy look.

Quote:
“16mm is the perfect choice. Regardless if we did it in HD or 35mm film, we’d add grain in the end to make it have this look. It calls up the language of what we’re used to seeing in a horror film. George Romero’s stuff was all grainy. It’s like looking at a documentary, and you instantly get into the 16mm documentary world. And if you take those same cameras and put them into The Walking Dead, it begins to be a believable, real experience.”

I read the writer said this about the backstory. Lucille was Negans wife. He was having an affair and she was dying of cancer. Negan decided to stay with her until she died.

Luckily I was reading the thread in reverse so thanks for the heads up.

Thanks to an article on DS, I saw something watching the episode again tonight that I didn't spot the first time which was Abraham giving Sasha the piece sign before his execution. Nice touch.

Great episode I thought.
Morgan lights up every episode he is in.

I first thought Carol was going to bugger everything up.....she has started to annoy me with her "innocent " act. .
Liking the look of ezekial.

Ezekiel was very good. I loved the one to one scene with Carol, explaining why he is so cartoonish.

CGI Tiger, hmm.

From an animal welfare point of view great, but stretching reality a little I thought, even for a zombie show.

My OH happened to catch the last few mins of today's episode...I did have to clear up with her that a pet Tiger on a chain is a little unusual/out of place even for The Walking Dead.

Real contrast to the last episode, agree that the cgi wasn't that great.

Loved Ezekiel, was worried that was all going to stretch reality but the back story brought it round. He seems to have a soft spot for Carol. I have to say her 'wtf' face at the beginning cracked me up. I'm glad she's found her place, can see that working for her (for a few episodes at least)

And Jerry was a delight.

For an episode, that on the surface didn't look like much happened, there was a lot going on.

Only just watched first ep last night. Unfortunately thanks to DS revealing one of the group that got killed on home page, Was a brutal way to go and difficult to watch which is a strange thing to say about a show like this.

He was pretty quick to tell two complete strangers their entire story, not sure of how much time passed from their arrival to the end of the episode.
