Another fantastic episode, absolutely loving this season so far. Felt tense all the way through because you never know what Negan will do, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is playing him perfectly.

It's interesting seeing Rick broken and compliant, so used to seeing him being the leader and taking action, will look forward to seeing how this unfold and how they'll get out of this situation which won't be quick or easy.

I know what you mean, if I hadn't read this thread I would have thought it was a concrete shelter that had been blown up and it was concrete dust rather than smoke coming off it.

I'm glad they haven't gone down the standard post-apocalyptic route and made Negan's gang all male and all white

Well that was a thoroughly depressing episode, like watching someone being repeatedly kicked in the balls for an hour. No fun at all.

I guess it was kind of inevitable that in the post-apocalyptic US someone would end up running a Mafia-style extortion racket but somehow Negan doesn't feel quite menacing enough, more like a bus station loony than a gang leader. Compare his performance with, say, the guy who plays Pablo Escobar in "Narcos" - that's someone who feels genuinely threatening.

I agree that it would probably be better for them all to cut their losses, get on the road and drive 500 miles away to get away from Negan's gang but now without any guns they're kind of stuck, which is a masterstroke from Negan - not only has he stopped the Alexandrians from being able to fight back but now they can't even risk going anywhere now they are almost defenceless, so they're stuck in the town.

If Negan finally gets his comeuppance I just hope they think of something more imaginative than having him eaten alive by zombies.

Yeah for me they need to start throwing us a bone or two, I don't think I can stand "Negan makes everyone miserable, he's a wrong un isn't he" until they inevitably team up to take him down at some point.

a pretty depressing episode tonight, in some quarters, they are teasing a fight back, as the above poster, reference, hilltop, alexandria and the kingdom all combined are the best chance, at defeating neegan

but, am not sure, I can see the producers just getting rid off Neegan like that

I think it, could, get quite patchy and tedious, quickly unless, there is a fight back, but of course, do, they want to go there, yet

I can't see them wanting to ditch neegan just yet, but, the build up, of battle and obviously more casualties and lucilles, would drive the tension up further

We couldn't tell that it was the mattresses burning either - wasn't until Chris Hardwick mentioned it at the start of Talking Dead that the penny dropped!


Carl had the chance tonight though... with a gun and could've easily taken out Negan at close range - without Negan, the Saviours would probably scatter into smaller groups fighting for supremacy.

I'd much rather be seeing what's happening with Morgan and/or Carol at the moment though, where it's not quite as much of a hard grind - the constant breaking down of Rick, and showing his subservience to Negan, can't keep going on indefinitely without some response...

Not before killing most if not all of the Alexandrians though.

Watched for a few minutes then gave up. Don't know what it is about this season, but I can't be doing with it at the moment. I'll probably do a binge watch when it's all over, if I can stand to look at that idiot with a bat's face.

In the meanwhile I think I'll go do something enjoyable on a Monday evening.

I thought it was quite a poor episode actually, and not justifying the longer time. Negan rocked up, took their guns, took some other stuff... and erm... not much else.

It's a shame as I thought ep2 and 3 were quite good as a follow up to the brutal opener but the pace just drained right out of it.

The could at least have thrown in some Kingdom/Hilltop stuff to mix it up a bit.

As a fan of TWD since episode one, the much trumpeted introduction of Negan has disappointed me. So far he's been a completely one-dimensional pantomime villain in the vein of Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham - as soon as he appears I roll my eyes and await the inevitable long (oh so very long) monologue as he struts around, flashing his teeth and leaning slightly backwards to make a point. All that's missing is a moustache to twirl!

Looking forward to the inevitable Negan 'back story' episode to see if that can re-awaken my enthusiasm. I love the show and having stuck with it for this long am not about to bail, but I'm finding it hard work at the moment.

If I were Rick I'd kill Negan and accept what came my way. At least that way nobody would have to listen to his over acty whiney voice any more.

I'm not getting the negativity either, I'm really enjoying it. And Jeffrey Dean Morgan is perfect as Negan in my opinion. Although I don't like the casting of Dwight.

It was interesting that Negan saw the footage of Rick as he was when he first got to Alexandria - he probably really wouldn't have messed with that Rick. Rick back then probably would have torn his throat out. I wonder if having seen all the footage may come back to bite them in the ass – I remember in her video, Carol was in full 'sweet little housewife' mode. I doubt the Saviors will be prepared for what she's actually like if and when they come across her.

Although I could see why Michonne wanted to hang onto the rifle, surely when Negan saw the deer carcass and that it had been shot, he would have worked out that she'd had a rifle? Trying to hide it could have got them all killed.

That was a neat touch, showing that the Saviors had taken the Alexandrians' mattresses not because they wanted or needed them for themselves, but just as an act of cruelty to burn them, to take away their comfort. Although that may backfire on them – when Rick and co aren't weakened by being comfortable, that's when they're really not to be messed with.

Although the Saviors have taken all their guns, surely they should be able to find more – there's been plenty of times in the past when they've found a gun on a dead body/walker (like Rosita did in this episode), and most houses in a rural area like that would probably have at least one.

I'm glad Rosita's being given more to do now. At first she didn't really do very much, and seemed surplus to requirements, like Tara. Good to see Father Gabriel being more helpful too.

Yeah, but Rosita was looking for those particular walkers. Remember they were the ones that ambushed Abraham's group on a supply run in S6E14. It was when Dwight killed Denise with the arrow. Actually, in show time that only happened a couple of weeks ago.

Another thing that comes up in the books and comics is that things are getting much scarcer now. Most foods are past their sell by dates, cars & guns have rusted out, fuel stocks have been used up....

Yes, he has quickly become a parody of himself, I could probably pick up a cricket bat and do an improptu 'smegan' piss-take ad lib right now. The show is a bit of a miserable slog right now, and I don't see negan going anywhere.
