I think actually that is quite wise, and although gripping and well acted, it was too much, and I wish I had done the same!

Welp I won't be re-watching that in a hurry, only so much 'crushed melon' sound one can endure.

I stayed up to watch it this morning (and was then awake for work at 7am!). Really enjoyed it in that grim kind of way. There was something of a spoiler straightaway with the blood on that side of Rick's face which immediately ruled out half of the group of being the (first!) victim and that was who I'd expected it to be. There being a second victim wasn't altogether surprising but I'd expected it to be one of the lesser characters and not someone who's been there from the beginning (I don't read the comic books and the TV series hasn't been strictly following those anyway)

As much as I loathe Carl and his stupid hair, at that later scene even I was going "no leave him alone, this is just too much for one episode!"

I also loved the bit with the hanged walker slowly stretching!

It HAD to be shocking and brutal. Negan is THE guy, one of if not the most brutal people in the whole comics. He's been built up so much that it had to be something intense and unfortunately quite graphic and disturbing.

Anyone notice Rick's snot bubble? No need to show that. Absolutely disgusting, I'm not watching this again.

Please do not talk about the comics, what might happen, what has happened in them, or anything else. THEY ARE SPOILERS!

The blood came from Negan's bat when he swung it towards Rick later. It did not come from the victim (well, in a sense it did, but it passed through the bat first)

They've managed to do with Negan what they never really managed with the governor, truly menacing.

I liked the way the tension mounted up in the opening moments, I also thought at one point that they'd deliberately avoided gore (got that wrong). Was convinced Carl was going to lose a hand.

But right now, having slept on it, it isn't the crushed melon sound effects, or a swinging lucille, or mashed heads that stick in my mind. It's Rick being broken. Glenn was the second person he met post apocalypse, Glenn saved him and they've been family since. He's come close to breaking point before but not like this. That destroyed him.

Outstanding acting from the pair of them.

Did anyone notice the casual snapshots being taken of the corpses?

This was horrific, in a good way. An awesome apisode, and almost too much gore for my taste. However, they are actors, so I know it's not real. (I realise this is a "no shit sherlock", statement)

I hope this is not a one off episode, and that the awesomeness (is that a word?) will continue.

Worry it will not, though. Too many people are never good. And it seems thiis Negan group is huge.

The real question is, how did the axe get on the roof?

Yeah I recall that but Negan was standing on that side when he did it which was pretty much straight after the killing (possibly in flashback, the blood was on his face from the start although to be fair at 3am I wasn't at my sharpest!)

Negan somehow spotted that Rosita loved Abraham. I wonder if this was to show that Sasha didn't love him, or that what Abraham and Rosita once had together was stronger than anything.

Indeed. Skulls being caved in I can take, but errant snot ?. No thankyou !

This is what I want to know. He tosses it out of the door, we hear the "thunk" as it lands but, somehow, it magically rebounds and ends up on the roof.

Did a zombie think "Heh, this'll be funny" as they grabbed it and tossed it on to the roof ?

Not sure about the 'thunk'. I'd need to hear it again, but I did a quick search of 'the walking dead ax on roof?' and it got me to a reddit page which has a gif of Neegan slinging the axe, and he does throw it onto the roof. I thought the same as you though until I saw it again.

He threw it upwards then gravity took over, wasn't it obvious ?

Yep, that's it - I've just gone back and watched it again. Clearly I wasn't paying attention

Yes! Good old polaroid camera, I guess that was a bit of a nod to the way that people will take photos of everything these days, including scenes of horror....

With the governor though I can at least see why the others were following him. I do wonder with Negan why one of his group hasn't taken the first opportunity to shoot him in the back of the head yet! He hardly seems like he guarantees safety and survival.

Quote:
“Was convinced Carl was going to lose a hand.”

I can't see them doing that unless they plan to kill him off. Having to digitally remove his hand from every shot would be a real pain in the backside. They get away with Jamie on GoT because he's wearing that golden hand all the time.

Great episode i think, one of the very best although like others have said i won't be watching it again in a hurry!

Shame to see the 2 deaths, both great characters who will be missed i think but i can see why it had to be a main character rather than someone we didn't really care about.

JDM was fantastic as Negan, definitely got the charisma to keep a group together, i can see how he has managed to keep in charge.

Yes I think it had to be done like that for Rick and us to truly get it. There is no way round this one and I agree the most moving thing is recognising that, well seeing and understanding that Rick has recognised that

It was a relief to have a bit of humanity among the remainder of the group at the end but all in all we're in for a grim rest of season I'd say.

As for the pictures we already know that is what the Saviours do. When Rick's group went to kill Negan the Saviours had pictures of people murdered that way on their bedroom walls

That was intense and brutal. I just don't understand the reaction of Daryl and Rick considering Negan is such a nut case the best option would have been to stay quiet. Glen could have been alive if for once their ego's didn't get the better of them.

It will be interesting how this season develops look's like they will still have alexandria but Negan will come every week to collect the tax.
