Anyone know if BT or Youview will be making any improvents this Autumn
As we are now just over halfway though the Summer seasion. I was wondering if anyone knows or thinks BT or Youview will make more improvments to the service to try and get more customers in the run up to the Christmas season.
The last two Youview software updates have only been minor. Darren |

Depends what you mean by improvements. It has already been stated there are more HD channels coming, but do you just mean software improvements.
Retail have just released a new software version but it only contains a few fixes (although I think it is actually paving the way for other things judging by the number increase and it increases the red button speed and hence improvements point to more html5 led ). There are other things coming but whether they will make it before Christmas I think probably not

Just think Youview needs another software update to try and keep it up with tec.
BT TV although its a fine alternative to Sky could also do with one or two more improvments. BT TV adding 3 more HD channels other week was a start and I know they are to maybe add more HD in the coming months. Darren |

If you mean a major improvement then a new box could be well on it's way soon
One spec that needs implementing by YouView is the BBC mandated HbbTV 2.0.1 spec Plus the HEVC standard is also needed Digital UK will be updating their D-Book in October 2016 so new standards are going to be launched then and hopefully it will be implemented soon after |

Where do you get October 2016.? It does sound about the right date for a version 2 of D-book 8. I don't think it in itself will have any great impact. My expectation would be some fine tuning, clarification and possibly corrections to version 1. |

Would love to see WWE Network added to the app section, but think that's a pipedream!
UFC Fight Pass would also be a good addition to BT's YouView box, especially now BT and UFC have extended their working relationship. I know all the events shown on BT Sport are blacked out on Fight Pass, but the service does from time to time have exclusive events that, to the best of my knowledge, aren't shown on BT or any other linear TV channel. Plus Fight Pass has an in-depth library of past UFC events, many of which aren't available on BT Sports own on-demand section. |

What we do know is Autumn is a big time for TV networks with new shows and return of old with new season shows which brings the old trouble of recording more channels at the same time at peak times.
We also know that Virgin Media are about to bring out a new box ( 4K ) which will go up against BT 4K & Sky Q 4K so adverts for all will be many to our press and screens. We know that there is the normal freeze in movement of channels and software on Freeview ( DTT ) in December for Xmas. We know that BT are said to bring more channels this Autumn which I hope will be HD Sky Cinema along with Sky One, Sky Living in SD & HD along with Disney HD & other kids channels. With hope FOX could return too ? Hope for new software which allows us to put extra time to recordings and speed up of EPG loading and updating so we don't loose records or have part recordings. Also would love depth of colour to software to allow colour I dents for channels and other colour for all the software. So |

Freeeview HD (post April 2013) and freeview play have 3 extra IPTV music channels compared to youview accessed though 4music's red button on channel 18. |

For the time being I don't think any more Sky channels will be coming to BT. Anyway as been said elsewhere if the likes of Sky 1 and that came to BT then the price of BT TV would end up going up in price far more than it is the now.
A few more HD channels would be welcome plus a few more channels from Discovery and maybe MTV Classics. Darren |

Here, here. Discovery Science and MTV Classic would be very welcome.
People that want the Sky Channels should consider getting a Now TV Box and the appropriate pass. |
