Android introduces accurate emergency location service in UK

Android launches accurate emergency location service when you dial the emergency number in the UK. Using the same technology available to apps on your phone your location is then passed to the emergency services.

Well thats bloody marvellous! Although I wonder if it makes a difference is you have GPS disabled?

It could enable it, but also use wifi and cell towers like it does now when GPS is disabled.

Could also help with hoax calls if the caller can be easily tracked.

This is very welcome and long overdue. It was crazy that Uber and pizza delivery companies had better location information about you than the emergency services.
