Downtime

Watched it last night for the first time. Some of it was excellent, some of it was rubbish. I didn't really follow the story very well.

The overriding memory that Mrs Chuff and I will take away is that one fact was underlined far more clearly than it really needed to be: Debbie Watling is a dreadful actor.

Some actors improve with age. Debbie, sadly, didn't... She's a lovely person though - I met her a couple of times at conventions way back in the mists of time and she's terrific fun, and absolutely loved being in Who, and to be honest, she's not that bad in the Troughton stories.
But Downtime is mainly a steaming pile of poo. The idea's not that bad, but the execution is dreadful.

I've met her a couple of times and she's a hoot. I always thought she was a bit shrill in 60s DW, and she was never all that great, but we giggled our way through the first scene of Downtime and it was downhill all the way. Especially as Lis and Nick are so good.
