It seems another cult BBC show is returning: Time Commanders!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/t...ime_commanders

Pleased to hear this, always liked TC: a very original programme that mixed history, strategy, live action and digital simulation really well.

The graphics and software should all have improved in the intervening time period.

Creative Assembly have done good games since then.

It'll be their next generation Total War engine too! Super happy about this show returning!!!!
I think it'll see a move out of Roman warfar and we could see re-fights of Waterloo maybe. By the looks of things it'll pit two teams of three up against each other as well!

Good to hear.

Seems like the show is being done slightly differently this time around, with two teams of three facing each other, as well as the computer.

Agree that I hope the age of warfare advances (I think the furthest they went to in the original was 1066) since the capabilities are certainly there.

Wonder who the BBC have lined up as presenter - a populist choice, like Richard Hammond, or a proper history geek.

Yeah Aryeh is now Lynette after a gender reassignment a few years back. Looks from the trailer that this series maybe based around Napoleon Total War, which is a good game and robust engine, but quite old now (2010).

It looks like it, unfortunately. Surely they could have found someone more suitable.

He's a big fan of Total War, apparently.

Then again, Chris Evans was a big fan of cars, so...

(Also, whens' the show starting?)

Al Murray would have been better. he's got a history degree from Oxford, presented this documentary series:

And last but by no means least he appeared in a celebrity edition of the original Time Commanders back in 2003

Not the best presenter for this really is he. Some one like Dan Snow or the original presenter would have been better. Is this a case of the BBC pushing certain people to present whatever comes up like they have done with Claire Balding in the past.

Oh no. I'm usually prepared to give most presenters a chance, but I'm struggling with this news.

1) Unemployment

2) Get the baking audience to take a look at TC.
