People legitmaitely believe if they don't put it under £150 it's a dead console and everyone will flock to Xbox One S instead
![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, but Skrim and Zelda on the go alone will attract HUGE numbers, all they need is a Pokémon game on this (which is highly plausible given the creator recently said the ONLY reason Pokémon hasn't been on a console thus far is because he wants the games to be about social interaction via trading and battling, which the Switch obviously allows), and this will be the next hot cake system seller after the Wii. Realistically I expect the price to be between £300 and £350 (I think the Wii U was about £280 originally), and I guarantee it'll sell well despite some of you believing it's apparently already dead in the water. |

I think theirs bit misconception at first some seemed to think streaming device rather than acutal portable Nintendo console. Also I don't know if you've noticed but the dock has two HDMI ports what do you think that could be for. |

I love the look of this!! Looks amazing. Really hope it takes off (unlike the Wii U) as if it does it could be a lot of fun playing on the go with friends. The social side of this console could be huge. I do love the Wii U but the marketing for that was just appalling and they really need to up the games for Switch.
I'll be more than happy to pay around £300 for this on launch. Praying the new Splatoon will be released as well!! |

This looks really really good. I think they've hit the nail on the head here as long as it is sensibly priced.

I've said for a long time that Nintendo needed to get some of the big third-party developers onside for the new console to succeed. It appears they have done exactly that.

I think what might make this work is Nintendo are really strong in the handheld market, so it's a clever move to make this portable.

Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards. Nintendo SwitchThe Nintendo Switch’s gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses. Gameplay is further enhanced by hardware-accelerated video playback and custom software for audio effects and rendering. We’ve optimized the full suite of hardware and software for gaming and mobile use cases. This includes custom operating system integration with the GPU to increase both performance and efficiency. NVIDIA gaming technology is integrated into all aspects of the new Nintendo Switch home gaming system, which promises to deliver a great experience to gamers. The Nintendo Switch will be available in March 2017. |

I don't really think it was a clever move, more like the only logical move. There is no way that they can compete with consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One anymore, so a hybrid is something they were forced to do. I'm happy about that though because this is what i wanted from a Nintendo console.
The thing is we don't really need a 3rd console like the Xbox or a Playstation, so it is kinda refreshing to see something new and different. |

Aye, fair enough, good luck to it. See what happens the next couple of months or so.
Pesonally I wanted something to help me ditch my PS4 / X1 for a bit (like thinking the Wii U would do with PS3/360) I'm not anti Nintendo, sorry if it seems this way!!! Peace and love ![]() |

Looking at it more closely I hope that your able to put the docking station on it's side with the handheld part been just as easy to push in/pull out as when its standing upright. If it needs to be standing upright like in the video then I don't have anywhere i'll be able to put it as all my consoles are in a tv unit & there's nowhere on-top or anywhere else near my TV where i'd be able to have the thing standing up. It looks like it would probably fit standing up on a shelf in my tv unit but i'd have to pull the whole thing out if I ever wanted to use the handheld or put a game cart into it which isn't ideal. Hopefully you will be able to & it will work just as well if put on its side. Quote:

![]() For third-parties to stick around the Switch needs to sell well & people are going to need to buy the Switch versions of multi-platform games as well as the Switch exclusive third-party games. If the system doesn't sell or the Switch versions of games don't sell then the third-parties will abandon it just as they did the Wii & Wii U. I guess it will also depend on how easy it is to take there games & port them over because there not going to want to spend time & money on porting games over if there hardly selling any units. |

The pro pad looks great. A 360 knock-off which is exactly what you want.
Screen looks matte rather than glossy which is fab. No control gimmicks which is very nice and very surprising considering it's nintendo. I've got a funny feeling that they're keeping quiet about touchscreen guff which is bound to be in there, but luckily it'll all have to optional since the games have to be played while the screen is docked so that's fine. The camera angle on the new mario game looked horrible, I hope you can change that. Even if it's just for mario kart and mario (Loved the early and handheld zelda games but they've been going steadily downhill for a long time now and this latest one looks desperately dull to me) I'll be snapping one up and pretending it's for my nephew. Not a kid in sight and no ant n dec either. Seems like a massive change in marketing. A very good reveal video though, I thought. Tells you exactly what it is and what you can do with it. Seems they've learned from their mistakes with the wii-u. Wonder what the battery life will be. 3 to 4 hours I'm guessing which means it'll just stay in the dock, they haven't revealed the specs yet but it seems to be pretty much an nvidia shield tablet, hardware wise - https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/1...ntendo-switch/ |

It'll be rubbish and it will flop big time.
Why couldn't Nintendo make something else other than a cheap rip off is one of those things that I will never know. Each and every company that there are in the world are not capable of learning anything. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't say everyone would flock to the X1 either, I said it needs to be pitched at a decent price because you can get a X1 with a recently released game for £250. All this talk about it being a home console and a handheld. No its not, it is a handheld that plugs into a docking station that then outputs on a tv. That, with even my pea brain, doens't make it two consoles in one. |

Unless Nintendo can get the 2nd and 3rd party triple A titles back they will still not beat the other competition.
It was the perfect moment to announce RDR2 would make it to the new system, but that now looks unlikely at the moment. So already next years possible best seller is missing from the console. It instantly looks like it has much less power then a PS4 or the X Box one which wont help. As another poster said it is basically a handheld console that plugs into the TV. Also If it launches at £350 which I suspect it might going off new 3DS prices it will struggle at first anyway in my opinion. Will it do better than the Wii U? Most likely., but Will It put Nintendo back to where it wants to be? |

It looks great, my one concern would be battery life, can't see you being able to play Skyrim for long on the handheld, couple of hours maybe, not long enough for a trans atlantic flight!!
