Start up Loop
HI,
I went to use my box tonight and it was switched off. Fired it up and it went into a start up loop. First The BT start up , [bottom left of the screen said " UKFTAA 0.05 " ], then the YOUVIEW start up telling me to change my settings for a faster start up [which I had already done before ]. At the end of the YOUVIEW start up the left hand front light went red for 5 secs and it starts all over a again. Then we just keep going round and around. I have now powered it off by the switch on the back of the box and will leave it for a while, but any ideas why it has gone crazy and how to stop it please |

Try Maintenance mode. Try holding the volume - button as soon as it starts to boot and try the re download software without delete recordings option. Google "Youview Maintenance Mode pdf" for instructions, as procedures differ depending on which box you have. Hope you resolve the issue. Good Luck.

Well, Thanks for all the help and suggestions, but no success.
1. Found it very difficult to get into Maintenance mode to start with 2. It would not let me do a factory rest and keep recordings. "The process failed" within seconds. 3. It recommended that I did the first option of a software reset. It did not work, and just went into the same old start up loop. Interestingly I forgot to mention that the box beeps [ quietly ] during the start up process for about 30 seconds and the internet light does not illuminate on the front of the box [ RHS ] I switched off and on again the home plug and ended up with three green lights so I believe that it is working. Is this totally screwed ? |

Doesn't sound good if it is making a beeping noise I'm afraid.. Is it a BT box you have ? You can buy a second hand one from Ebay for very cheap .. If you are paying for the extra channels then contact your provider and they may give you a new box for free.

If you report it to 151, they'll book an engineer visit and bring a replacement box.. They will have to do a few pointless tests but they should replace it.. |

Thanks for that but the box was not supplied by BT . I bought it commercially so I don't think they will deal with the problem.
Many thanks anyway |
