Does it really matter how long the series is?

This series at 50 days is the shortest civilian BB ever, but does it really matter?

We've had CBBs shorter than this with just as many housemates that have been great series, and this series has been really good as well .

If anything I remember that people used to hate how long the Channel 4 BBs were, saying they ran out of steam, got boring and wanted them to be over. 98 days is too long.

I think one series of the German BB lasted a year!

It's to short with a rushed ending . Housemates dont experience the real bb .by week two they are seeing people from the outside world blink and its letters from home and a rush to the end . This series was very rushed and forgettable
Celeb bb is too soon and is stupid .

It used to matter in the days of the original BB concept.
There was absolutely no contact with the outside world, 24/7 live camera feed to viewers and no where to hide, so the longer it went on the pressure really built up on the HMs and relationships were tested without the need for deliberately causing angst between them.

Now the cameras are not always on, apparently, and producers come and go into the house and it doesn't really matter how long the show goes on for, the pressure on the HMs is not the same.

To be meaningful , as a test of character of the HMs, it should be as long as possible.

In its present "game" format, it doesn't really make a lot of difference.

I would have preferred the series to have been a bit longer, but I'm pleased for Jason that it's short, as I don't think he would have lasted much longer mentally if the production crew had kept up with their little games.

Yes when they have 4 evictions in a week . I have enjoyed the series and would like a few more weeks. It doesn't even feel that long since it started. I think the civilian BB should be 10 weeks

Its obvious now that ch5 care more about CBB and are always in a mad rush to get civilian done and dusted every year. Even Emma seems more excited about CBB these days. I remember in last year civilian final, she mentioned CBB was coming soon every 5 minutes !

IMO civilian BB should be 60 days long, 50 days feels too short

I'm glad it's shorter and ending tonight. There's too much manipulation and negativity for me to stomach any longer. This is just right. Any longer and watching would feel like a chore.

The guys going out the back door was too close to the final for my liking. Even an extra episode between their eviction and final night to see life in the house without them would have done. Would feel less rushed.

It will never be any longer than 50 days if it returns in the future.

They may even look for ways of chopping more days off

I feel 50 days is on the limit of too short, for civvy BB. Maybe should of been a tad longer.

With live feed, yes it does matter.

Without live feed and heavily edited and often biased editing, no it doesn't.

I suspect the ultimately plan is to get it shorter than cbb , they have managed to chop three weeks off it in the last two years . Hoping the less inquisitive viewers won't notice.

They do think all viewers are pretty stupid feeding lines like it would clash with the Olympics however it doesn't seem to be an issue for cbb to go up against the Olympics

I prefer civilian BB's to last the whole summer, 2 and half months or 3 months long.

I'm baffled as to why they even bothered to air BB17 this year at all

I watched for two weeks before they announced the series finale

I don't believe for a second that it was the original plan, and I didn't see much point in continuing with it thereafter either.

The series ended before it had even begun for me.

They could have got 2 more weeks in surely - perhaps finish it a week Friday. Emma on her latest video, states it was always planned to be this long - that maybe - but the demands of the CBB contestants have something to do with it presumably. Shame - as it has proved to be quite an entertaining series.

I agree, all 45 minutes drama shown (questionable I know some 45 minutes were dull and not even funny) and not real life day to day stuff (even if only seen/or read on live update threads on forums)....to keep it REAL.

The series was 'over planned' before it started with the 'cast members' and the stories they brought with them that 'failed'

They never have the regular bb final on a Friday these days I assume they can justify the curtailing of it by saying look at the poor viewing figures .

In contrast the cbb final is always a Friday these days

I'm sure that show bosses believe, that if Emma says it, then the fans will believe it!

If only we knew what "the game is changing" meant beforehand, and to expect a five-minute series, I doubt that anybody would have bothered to tune in.
