It was partly Big Brother's own (accidental) making. It was obvious that BB took to f*cking with Jason toward the end. It was the classic Man vs God (BB) literary conflict. Earned him sympathy. Also, it was Man Vs Man (a gang of men.)

Yes but..., I'd like to know what personality characteristics he had to deserve the votes to win.

He had the most entertainment value, despite being intrinsically reserved, inexpressive and prone to explosion.

Unlike Hughie, whose entertainment value was a function of his open, reactive, expressive and empathetic personality, Jason's entertainment value came from OUTSIDE himself. Simply put, Big Brother has never put someone through more HELL (Charlie, tasks, etc) than they have put Jason, and since he definitely did NOT deserve that treatment, the public felt the need to even the score.

Big Brother understands all this. They engineered all this drama and provoked the public's reaction, which is why they could not possibly allow him to leave two nights ago.

Despite being put in a horrible, horrible situation, he kept his dignity with the other housemates... Because not once did he tell Charlie to eff off & stop going on at him... Because he's a gentleman... Because he came out of the house saying thank you... Because he's a patient guy...
I wanted Andy to win until he got sucked into the popularity & slagged Jason off for "Going Over The Same Things"... Jason showed he's a good person & I'm so glad he won!!!

Because he behaved with some dignity and class in the face of trying circumstances. As a result he came across as a nice guy, which enabled people to feel empathy over what he was going through and want him to win.

In my opinion (and I think it's been said by others on another thread) Charlie won it for him and Ryan lost it for Hughie.

I remember when the still alcoholic Denise Welch went after Michael Madsen, he tried very hard to keep away from her or to deflect her rants but in the end there were far more people who thought he was in the wrong that evicted him.

I think the days of tolerating women with obvious stalker/obsession issues, feeling sympathy for them and ire for the man, are well and truly over. It was uncomfortable watching her moaning on at him, hauling up old stuff that no one really cared about. Jason however, dealt with it admirably, when he ever tried to get her to see sense she'd raise her voice, turn on the tears and try to make him look bad. It didn't work. Her final rant in the courtroom task was the winner for him. Add all of this to him ditching the entitled Latisha and it was obvious the voting would go his way.

Hughie, bless him, he would have won if he'd had no relationship or picked Sam to hook up with. Ryan lost it for him. In my eyes, a vote for Hughie would have essentially been a vote for a nasty, vindictive little twerp. I think that's how many thought.

He was the best housemate this year.

It was an anti BB win, with all the spiteful, sadistic rubbish BB pulled on Jason. He was constantly singled out for negativity. People don't like someone being victimised.

Hughie IMO was very entertaining and would normally have won, but his association with Ryan damaged his chances.

BB and the producers won this for Jason.

As a Jason fan and a Hughie hater. I agree with this 100%

It was written for Hughie to win and normally he would actually win it! I was sure he would take home the prize but that episode on Sunday where Jason was getting destroyed changed it all. It allowed the voters to have enough time to get their votes in for Jason and also there was no shine on Hughie at all, he didn't play too much of a part of the final few days. What made it worse was the people bullying Jason were the ones who were closest to Hughie so although his fans pushed for him at the end the focus of the shows gave Jason the exposure and eventually saw him being crowned winner.

Truly epic journey and amazing end to the series.

Again, one for the 'boring' oldies...Jason won because he was considered the most decent all round person in there, who went through emotional hell (contrived by BB) for weeks.

That makes a winner in any circumstance, over the preening, selfish, immature, loud and self obsessed 'cool gang'. I'm embarrassed at their arrogant vanity.

For me, that is why Jason won.
