Pleased to see people on here are still recognising and respecting my natural class, Grace and superiority.
Now on a soap topic how many on here think realism is overated in soaps and prefer the big glossy glamorous US soap's from the 1980s eg Dynasty, Dallas, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest? HO is a uk soap example on how not to act, the realism died on that show over 3 years ago now. |

I can't comment, I've never watched any of them.
I like a mix of realism; I don't like alien invasions, but Corrie and ED (the more realistic soaps IMO) bore the shit out of me! ![]() |

I like the mix of realism, Dallas went a bit OTT in its final years which at times was good, but it gets boring after a while.

EastEnders was good with them setting up the story for Babe being attacked

They made camp soap superbitches an absolute art form in the big US soap's,started the archetype for that kind of character to be honest.
I also liked how Sue-Ellen could be tragic but a bitch at the same time. I read somewhere that a US soap did an Alien plot, I think I saw it on youtube, I think thats a step too far. |

I will watch Corrie later, I hope Kate Oates does well, but no more stunts after this one she is planning.
The only one i have really watched was Dallas, which I love with JR being my fav soap character. I also liked how Sue-Ellen could be tragic but a bitch at the same time. BIB - I don't think that's the case, or not for me personally at least, but it's the fact that it makes the show seem trashy etc.

EastEnders was very good tonight, loved all of the suspects leaving their houses in the run up to Babe being locked in the freezer

Hollyoaks was okay, but fed up of that pantomime Marnie ![]() My bet is on Sylvie, I think it will make the most interesting scenario and the way Babe said "who let you in here?" could be a taunt towards her Yeah, I know Oates work won't be seen properly for weeks or months yet and I'm not expecting miracles by a long chalk but tonight was mostly just the same old crap. I did actually enjoy some of the stuff with Maria, Luke and Caz but the majority was nothing interesting or exciting. |

Well maybe it could happen, but it's a bit of a strange thing to happen, not sure if it would fit the soap setting. It's like if a UFO was in Corrie, above the Rovers, you would just be like "This is taking the piss now!".
I think the Colbys got axed after this aswell, which just goes to show how bizzare it was. I don't think it would suit Corrie but maybe would have suited axed 1990s ITV soap Families or Brookside in its surreal final year as a cliffhanger ending Jimmy Corkhill or someone kidnapped from the close in a spaceship, maybe even every character taken on a spaceship on a journey into the unknown!

I suppose maybe soap's that want to be so outlandish are actually a new sub genre like fantasy soap rather than what we traditionally understand as a soap?
![]() actually its starting to be a tad more realistic recently |
