Currently, I am liking EE more than I have done in a LONG time. It's weird that once SOC kicked in each episode has a different feel to it, there seems to be better characterisation and script writing, the characters are more realistic and lifelike, the humour has vastly improved and, even though nothing of major importance has happened, each episode has a superb mix of drama and lighter/humorous moments that really brings out the characters in a new light.
Before they broke up, I actually cared for Sonia and Tina, Sonia pulling Shirley off her high horse was a brilliant scene, whilst Tina struggling to care for Sylvie by herself whilst working was done in a way that I cared for her and felt for her when she was talking about it to Shirley. Same with Stacey and Martin, you can empathise with them about their need for a bigger house. It's amazing that changes to the writing makes such a huge difference.
The whole show just feels different, it feels more grounded and everyday. I also love that there is mystery surrounding SOC, makes a refreshing change from DTC and his verbal diarrhoea.
Sorry, gone on a bit there! But I can't believe how EastEnders just feels different as a whole.
