I'm not sure either being a 90's kid. But knowing ED they would not have had a big enough budget to do sucha thing. I imagine, would be shocked if it turned out to be on-screen.
True, although in my defence, I wasn't sure whether or not Ben meant off-screen child deaths or on-screen... I gathered he meant excluding infant deaths, as every soap has done them. (Well, HO, ED, EE and CS)

Wow, thanks for that.

I'll try the EE and HO ones out, as those are the soaps I watch consistently
And you will find genial hosts like myself on the EE threads what more could you ask for?

That would a great soap storyline wouldn't it? Separated at birth and found each other through the MF

Still can't believe that! What's her secret?

I don't think I want to watch It to be honest, it sounds horrific.

That would

I'm not sure, but I hope I like that good when I hit 48!

Although slightly more believable, I was shocked to see that Richard Winsor was 34, as if George Rainsford - I thought they both looked younger!

Is he really 34? I was thinking more late 20's. He's got such a lovely name as well

That was good, at the height of 'Lindsey Corkhill the Lesbian Gangster' era

My favourite is the helicopter crash. Interestingly, they used a real helicopter for the stunt, and it was on a crane which was in the playground of Grange Hill school (now it's Hollyoaks High) so they could only do one take. It was a very good stunt though that could have put Brookside back on the map but hardly anyone saw it.
Did someone say Lindsey Corkhill the Lesbian Gangster?

The helicopter crash itself was a great stunt, one of soap's best, but I always felt it was ruined by dodgy CGI, 'dramatic' shaky cameras and needless slow-motion shots. They should have just brought it down at normal speed and then had a few moments of silence before it exploded and panic set in.

Yeah he's 34. I thought he was about 29/30. (I'm imagining you mean Richard...?)

Thank you
Once everyone has watched this, and if they need to have a cry, I like to know if you think the soaps today should have a go at doing something like this?

I think soaps should include stories like this but I don't think that any of them are serious enough to do so these days. Just imagine Corrie trying to pull off something like this?

The Farnham car crash for anyone who is interested.

We're a jolly bunch tonight, aren't we?

Cruella De Corkhill!

I quite liked that the slow motion added to the tension, but I can see that you think it ruins it. It was good though, I've seen it countless times and each time it is still shocking. What I found shocking was that it landed right on top of a characters car whilst they were sat in it

I don't think soaps could get away with it without complaints. At the time it was shocking though and it was a murder mystery also, with three suspects before it being revealed that it was Barry Grant who pushed them.

I'm going to sound heartless but that didn't move me in the slightest (and that was the first time I've watched it) - maybe it was because I watched it with no sound?

A resounding no If you ask me. I think there are enough horror stories of child deaths in the real word and soaps are for escapism, so I don't think child deaths should be allowed, I wouldn't want to watch something like that personally.

I agree, they are not serious enough to attempt it especially HO.
I think EE would be good at it, but it would be forgotten about in a few weeks. ED would be the best soap to have a go at it. But I think People would go mental!

Is there a Richard Winsor Appreciation Thread? Can we make one [if there's not]?
