That episode did a right U-turn in the last few minutes and was 'edge of your seat' stuff

I'm so annoyed, I turned off EE about 5 minutes before the end and then something good happened for the first time in 2 months

I know! What a massive bolt out of the blue. I still enjoyed the Ladies Night stuff but that was a brilliant turn-around.

Exactly. That's sort of what we were saying a few weeks ago - SOC has been laying down the groundwork with all these seemingly meaningless, directionless character interactions. But then when something like tonight happens out of the blue it does make you concerned for all the characters, because you like them much more now than when they've being all moody and damaged.

I would make some disgusting proposition about having something for you to blow out on your birthday, but Atti will only chime in with, "What, a chipolata?" and ruin it

I agree, by scaling back these shocker OTT moments and making the viewers care about the characters these events have much more of an impact. When they grabbed Ollie my heart was in my mouth, that's what proper character development does for you.
