Shirley was great tonight, sparring with 'Brenda' and then when Carmel called her something and she replied with 'I'm beginning to warm to you' was great. The huge twist at the end just topped off an already decent episode. Lots of people never liked EE because the characters always scream and shout at each other, yet that has been rectified now and the characters are like actual human beings, with humour and flaws and lots of layers to them. I really like how there's nice touches of humour that aren't forced, like Linda going upstairs to rescue Johnny from Ollie
and Kathy doing her best Catherine Tate Nan impression.”
Yeah, Carmel said, "What does 'Shirley' mean, then? 'Bitter old slapper!"'

I can't even remember the last time a soap used a word like 'slapper'. It was hilarious!
Totally agree. All these little improvements show how awful the show's "humour" had got. Even previously detestable characters like Donna and Kim are tolerable now.
People are never happy. Literally, sometimes the soaps' producers can't do anything right. As we were saying earlier, I like the jokey, banter scenes we're getting now with slightly more adult humour. I even think Shaks, Bex and Lou are doing a decent job as believable teenagers. Certainly more so than the Pouty Princesses, Lauren and Lucy, did.
I'm glad the spoilers are being kept vague, tbh. I actually enjoy being surprised and not knowing every little thing that's going to happen.
