This family have grown on me a lot in the last couple of months. Who else likes them? I have really enjoyed Yasmeen's rivalry with Sally. It has made me laugh a lot.

Zeedan is probably my favourite character of the family. I think he has lots of potential, I really enjoy his scenes with Leanne and I think Rana would be a good match for him. Does anyone know what's happened to her? Is the character due to come back? I thought her and Zeedan would get together and be an interesting couple.

What would everyone like to happen with the family? Any potential storyline ideas? I would like Yasmeen to continue her neighbourly feud with Sally. I think she is quite a good comedic character and delivers one liners really well, so I'd like that to continue.

For a while, I thought Zeedan would get with Todd. But now I do like Todd and Billy together so I would like that pairing to stay as it is.

I like the Nazirs too.

As many have said, they emerged triumphantly from the shadows once the dreadful Kal snuffed it in the fire.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sally and Yasmeen's rapprochement in Friday's episode so I hope that it continues rather than have them as mortal 'comedy' enemies. I'd like them to find some common ground and become friends while still having a competitive edge. Corrie had this friendly antagonism this in the past with Annie Walker/Nellie Harvey and to a lesser extent Bet Lynch/Stella Rigby, who were friends and rivals always trying to get one up on each other. It would be good for them to lock horns over something serious, like the community centre being closed down. Sally is pro-closure and Yasmeen fights for it to stay open. Some of us have discussed in another thread the potential of giving Sally a more serious council story, that sees her uncover corruption and become a whistleblower. Perhaps Yasmeen could be involved too.

As for the rest of the Nazirs more widely, who knows. My only issue with them as a family is that they aren't Muslim enough. Much fanfare was made of them being Corrie's first Muslim family, yet you'd never know. Corrie has a long history of writing religious characters really well (Ena Sharples, Ivy Tilsley), so there's a precedent there. I would like to see how religion influences their characters and the place it has in their lives. We've gone too far with them now to have them suddenly become devout, but perhaps an extension to the family could be introduced who are more religious. Doesn't have to be a whole new family, maybe just a cousin or something. Personally I would have liked to have seen the Rana character given a more religious edge, rather than having her as another forgettable Corrie glamour puss. There are many women who choose to wear hijab and are very glamorous at the same time. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Alya is an interesting character but I fear that she gets too often swallowed up in factory scenes while the other women are clucking and screeching away. She's one of the only characters on the street to have been to university, so I'd like them to use this more. Give her a friendship with one of the other younger females (Eva, Sarah) or a friendship with an older character that you'd not really expect (Rita, Ken).

I think the only weak link in the family is Sharif, as the character is just too close to Dev in age and background (businessman). Maybe he could be given a new direction that takes him away from business deals and into another field? What that could be, I don't know.

I think the Nazir's have fitted in to Coronation Steet well. Zeedan is a strong minded young man who respects his family and his religion - no sex before marriage for instance. Rana doesn't fit though and I would like the producer to find a nicer girlfriend/wife for Zeedan.

They have grown on me too since Kal was killed off and they went through their grief. The writing on Corrie has also improved in the past few weeks, I'm starting to like a lot of characters that I previously dispised, so that could be something to do with it. I also like the refurbished decor of their house. Really suits their character.

Since his arrival that misery chiseling vicar took great delight in ferreting out despair and despondency to enjoy with his pints at his office in the pub. He is a phony as a three dollar bill. But now, since his eye has settled on scarface everybody can now go to hell as far as he's concerned. He has cast poor Sean aside like one of his collars and left him devasted. It's a wonder Sean can pull a decent pint and make a hotpot after such callous treatment by a man of the cloth. It break my heart to see Sean a shell of his former self.

He honours his religion and none of 'that' before marriage.
(he is quite ugl I mean he is not very good looking or has any charisma)
The family however I like as are all well acted

I like Sharif! He's a nice, solid, "good guy" character, and I like his pithy asides when Yasmeen gets a bit much. In fact I like him and Yasmeen the best out of the Nazirs - Alya and Zeedan I just find bland.

I like him davads, don't get me wrong! Perhaps saying he's the weak link was a bit of an exaggeration. I think with some good direction he could be an interesting character.

Maybe he could have an affair with Audrey.

They have gotten better, I like Yasmeen and Zeedan, I could take or leave the grandpa but Alya is horrible, her character is unsympathetic and the actress who plays her is nothing more than a hair model. If they kill Alya the family would be better off.

I really like them. As others have said, the turning point for me was when Kal died.

I love Yasmeen the most. Long live the Nazirs.

I agree with you, Alya is the weakest link. I couldn't stand Yasmeen at first but I like her now, Id like her and Sally to remain friendly, there's more scope than yet another silly fued. Sharif is lovely, he balances the family and surprisingly I like Zeedan the best now. I wish he'd ditch that Rana though. I know she's fit but there's something not right about the character. Alya is beyond awful. Very pretty but nothing else. Boring, monotone and not that nice a person. I have a feeling we will be seeing her in more scenes at the factory though. I think there may be some sort of power struggle coming up with her and Jenny.

I think Zeedan is the best too, he's come a long way, when they first came on I couldn't stand him, he was angry for no reason. Now he's become likable and developed relationships with Leanne and Simon. They do need to give him a better relationship though maybe have him come in between Steph and Andy. I think Rana has potential, I think they should turn her into a gold digger and have her go after Dev.

Just goes to show what a bit of tweaking can do - you could have replaced Kal with a dummy and not noticed....him leaving was the best thing to happen. It gave us a reason to care - Yasmeen was rested and came back with a sense of humour and less naggy.

Everyone goes on about axing characters after 6 months or less - most characters in soap are different from their first episodes. Look at Roy, Ivy, Dev

I would say that Alya seems a bit lost as a character at the moment - like KornerKabin mentioned, she seems a bit lost in the factory scenes with all the others. I really like the idea of her striking up an unlikely friendship with somebody like Ken. They could share the same intellectual ground. I think the writers need to make Alya stand out a bit more and give her some strong friendship groups. I used to not be that keen on her, but I would want her to stick around as I think the writers just need to give her something decent to do.

They need her to stand out right in front of the bus as it goes by

The ones I thought were the strongest (Alya, Sherif) have now become the disposables.

I'm warming to Yasmeen. Alya badly needs direction.

The writers need to send her off to university to study design, and just have her mentioned by the family occasionally.

She already went, when she first joined they said she had a degree in textiles or something like that. Kate Oates just needs to drop a helicopter on Alya and call it a day.
