Given that the raison d'etre of Clara's echoes is to intervene when the Doctor is in danger, counter-balancing the Great Intelligence's malign interventions throughout the Doctor's timestream, this surely presents an ideal opportunity for the return of Clara in the form of one of her echoes. The original Clara may still of course return, before returning to her final moment in Trap Street. But Clara's echoes would seem to present a more varied and longer term opportunity for Clara to return : more varied as her echoes can have different personas whilst still essentially being 'Clara' (eg Oswin vs Victorian Clara); and longer term as her echoes will always be around while the Doctor is, ie throughout his whole new regeneration cycle.

Would there be a paradox created if the original Clara encountered one of her echoes? Perhaps that could be the basis for a new story...

Paradox in new who? No such thing.

Story-wise the idea you've presented is perfectly possible. I wouldn't be surprised if Big Finish production eventually make some stories along this theme with Clara.

I think it's highly unlikely to happen in the main series for all sorts of real-world reasons, actors and showrunners careers moving on, for example.

Besides, as Sam_gee1 said, there are no paradoxes or contradictions in the Doctor Who universe.

You may not have noticed, but such was the nonsensical nature of the impossible girl explanation of the Clara echoes, that even Moffat seemed to be embarassed and abandon it thereafter, choosing never again to mention the echoes even though he could have. I doubt therefore, any possible return of Clara would be anything other than the real Clara.

If they wanted to bring Clara back, they've already set it up to do so easily with little explanation with her flying around in her own TARDIS.

Besides, in my opinion, Time of the doctor wiped out the events of name of the doctor and the Clara echoes now never happened.

Also, why would Clara need to be brought back so soon? some people complain about the amount of Rose but she only did 2 series originally, and there was at least an entire series gap without her before her return. Clara has already been in 2 and a half series, not to mention being the main companion in the 50th and featuring in no less than three Christmas specials. If Clara returns in series 10, it would say to me that Moffat has become a bit too obsessed with the character. A mention is one thing, but a return so soon, after she already had a few 'almost' exits already would be quite another.

As someone who has no particular love for the character, I'd like to think we are done with her. I'm not convinced we are but i'd like to think so.

There was a comic strip in DW Magazine a few months back where Clara met one of her echoes. Not a bad story IMO.

Please NO! Clara is gone accept it. She doesn't need to come back in echo form or any other form. She already stayed for 1 season too long and the character was already ruined by the whole Impossible Girl storyline. The fact Moffat couldn't even properly kill her off without giving her a stupid bloody Tardis for no reason was bad enough. I'd rather just think the Echo's no longer exist and she's now slowly died

I'll wager that if Julie Gardner was asked, she would say that Clara was a great character and that was superb in the role. That's what BBC executives do.

I would sort it in one quick conversation between the Doctor and the Time Lords:

Doctor: Clara?
Time Lord: She tried to steal a TARDIS. We brought her straight back. Now she's dead.

That would be the last time she was ever mentioned again.

No problem with any of the the C21 companions myself, but kind of wish my own favourite, Donna, hadn't come back after the mind wipe, tbh.

"I was thinking, we could show Rose with like, a new boyfriend, but she's telling how him useless and stupid he is and how he'll never be as good as the Doctor, and people will be like ""I totally get that because the Doctor was amazing!" and the new guy becomes clinically depressed, but it won't matter because every time Rose appears we'll play some loud epic music and have the Doctor narrate a speech about how amazing and perfect she is. Then we'll throw some aliens in for good measure."

In an ideal world, even that would be too much for me.

Given what we've seen Moffat do with the character so far, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the doctor and Bill return to Gallifrey to find Clara in charge, having been put so when the timelords realised that due to some timey wimey events, Clara was actually the one who founded Gallifrey originally, not to mention all other life in the universe, and that due to an entirely seperate piece of time of timey wimey she is actually the doctors Mother and father in one.

For those who try and compare Clara's impact to that of Rose, at least with Rose it was just importance in the relationship of the here and now of the time, and not the Clara version of forced importance where they had to interfere with the history and make her all important.
