Same thing. Rather than what he's actually done, brought to the house as a housemate.

I think it's just a truthful thread about him to be honest. A lot of his votes are because people felt sorry for him and the hard times he faced.

People have openly said on this forum, "can't wait to see their faces if Jason wins" etc... Quite evidently showing that it would mean more to them to spite those than the fact they'd be happy for Jason to win.”

But there's been an element of that you could attribute to many winners over the years.
Sam Evans who IMO brought absolutely nothing to the house - did he win just to stop Dexter winning? Was it the sympathy vote because of his deafness? Just one example out of many.
Did Rachel Rice win just as an anti vote to spite Rex? Same with Ashleigh v's Helen?

I thought he brought plenty to the house. least of all bringing it to it's knee's and socking it to those self entitled little oiks. He was always fair, calm (except when pushed to the very limit in the last week). He conducted himself with grace and dignity even when he was repeatedly pushed by his fellow HM's and BB alike. I found that admirable and a trait I look for in a winner.
He may not have brought wot some viewers look for in a winner, but he brought plenty that others do.

Fair enough.

I think he is a gentleman. A really nice bloke, but in regards to entertainment value he rates very low for me.

More a protest vote than sympathy vote.

it was a fitting end to the series and the storylines for me. Jason proved the others wrong by winning. The endless bitching about him was in vain and i like that. I also think a lot of the viewers like to support people they see themselves in and for me Andy and Jason were the two i could relate to. There are so many different reasons for people voting a winner.

I have no qualms in saying yes, I did vote for Jason because of what that shower ( BB and the ex housemates ) put him through. He did not deserve it.

They had a fame desperado wannabe in there, who on the outside was a real nasty swine, yet let him plainly sail along because he was in a 'showmance' with one of the favourites, but they targeted Jason!!!

I was also voting for Jayne, but Jason got my lions share of votes.

I voted for him as he has the kind of face I like to sit on.

^^ This

& I was one of them, even though I supported both my priorities were with Andy. As soon as he left the house I placed the last of my credits for Jason.

You're right OP, although most Jason fans probably wouldn't admit it.

There's really nothing to him at all, and when people defend him or try to praise him it's usually just in the way of deflecting onto how dreadful Ryan and Charlie were by comparison.

He was always a bit of a boring dud, but I was happy for him to win over Jackson and Andy at least. I think Hughie would've been the best winner we've had in years, but Jason won fair and square.

He got a massive sympathy vote.”

True, BB and Charlie colluded to achieve massive sympathy for the gormless dullard. It's also true that if you do sweet FA there's not a lot to complain about.

Agree.
I mean feeling sympathy for someone is great and all, but they also have to actually like and respect them aswell to be able to root for them. Or else it just turns into pity.

I think BB voters tend to vote for whoever they relate to best and people related to Jason based on the way he acted in various situations.
So it's not so much about sympathy, it's more about voters putting themselves in that position and thinking if they would act the same. If they would then that's a major vote-puller.

no, he won because of his character. he remained the same person from the start, didn't play up to the cameras, he was himself, spoke the truth about ppl and that's what I liked about him and voted him my winner. he was also attractive for a mature guy. i would like to see more older HMS next time in bb.

Maybe, but it's just the impression I've got from a fair few posts on here. Of course there are some reasoned responses about why people really loved Jason as an individual, but the vast majority of posts about him tend to just be anti-Charlie, anti-Ryan or anti-producers rather than significantly pro-Jason.

Would he have won based on his own merit without the influence of campaigns against other housemates? Or even without the protest against the very recent courtroom task? I really doubt it, and I think his winners interview was evidence enough of his lack of character.

I suppose if he had run around with his bits out, or got into bed with Jayne,

Or maybe whooped and hollered and danced at every little opportunity,

or maybe cried in the diary room at every opportunity,

or talked like a gansta or shouted at the top of his voice in every argument.

Is that what you call entertaining?

If not, just what do you mean by entertaining?

The reason he won is because he was a nice guy and deserved the win as much as anyone you wish had.

I am glad he won, proved you do not have to be a argueing, self obsessed wanna be realty z lister wanting their 15 mins of fame, to win,

I do think that he did play the game, and if he did wished he had come out and said, with a smile, That's how you win BB.

As an entrprenuer and the age he is I cannot see him being that shy and naive, he has always said he was a fan of the show.

Good on him.

People DIDN'T feel sympathy for various others, because they didn't deserve it.

I liked Jason just the way he was , he was a gentleman from day 1 there were many times he could have lost it but he didnt he took everything they threw at him and still stayed a gentleman , he cooked and cleaned which is more than most in there did , and still they treated him badly , well i for one will stand by what he did in there .

Good on you Jason you deserved to win well done

I think there was a fair amount of voting going on because people were sick of production prodding Jason with a stick over and over again until they got some sort of reaction.

The problem is that "entertaining" rarely means likeable these days. I watch various housemates and concede that they brought more to the show in terms of action. Trouble is, a) the "action" they brought is usually desperate, OTT, exhibitionist crap and b) the housemate providing it is usually a fame-hungry, unpleasant, screeching banshee with the IQ of a dog turd. They may have technically done more to "entertain" but (aside from the fact that it hasn't particularly entertained me) do I want to reward them for it? No I don't.

Find someone who can entertain and who doesn't come across as an inyerface git and I might consider supporting them. Until then, I'll go for lesser "characters" who I don't necessarily feel the urge to slap.

Well done Jason ”

I think he won because he was a great housemate maybe BB should learn a lesson in that real BB fans don't want all the meddling we want meaningful challenging tasks. Jason won because he is like a good early style BB housemate.
