To be honest, I would feel exactly the same as Emma about my OH taking part in Strictly.

It's not just because of the so called "Strictly curse", would many women, or men for that matter really like their OH getting that up close and personal with a member of the opposite sex?

Some people might say that if they feel secure enough in their relationship it shouldn't be an issue but surely sometimes they must feel slightly uncomfortable watching their OH grinding up against someone else.

Matt and Emma seem like they have a solid relationship and Emma is a beautiful woman. It just goes to show that even beautiful women have their insecurities.

I applaud her for her honesty.

Pamela Stephenson, a psychologist these days, was on Graham Norton when she was doing Strictly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsrGnLLJRas

She showed him a dance move (above) then explained how Professional dancers quite happily grind their "noo-noo's" into each other, without a second thought.
This is because this is part of their daily job - it is "what they do for a living"

She postulated that for "ordinary" celebs, this kind of closeness might actually be very hard to cope with, leading to feelings for their partner that they might not otherwise experience.

So does this mean she would never do the show herself? Or would it be a different rule for her?

What about all the actors and actresses who have to do intimate scene with people who they are not actually dating?

I think it's more the spending hours and hours with someone for weeks that leads to the romances/relationships that seem to happen on Strictly.

I've always thought that Pamela Stephenson talks a lot of rubbish actually. I mean what kind of a stupid word is "noo-noo" anyway? It sounds like something out of In The Night Garden.

I've never heard of Emma Willis, but it would seem her marriage can't be that strong if she is unable to trust her OH not to stray if he was a celeb on Strictly.

She is also rather insulting to professional dancers. Does she really think that we all go around deliberately breaking up marriages? She needs to get a grip.

She is a TV presenter on The Voice and Big Brother. Her husband is Matt Willis from the band Busted.

To be fair, she didn't actually say that - all she said was that she doesn't want to watch her husband grind up against a hot dancer. I think that's pretty normal, she's just being honest. Even the ones who watch their other halves pressed up against someone else for several hours a day on Strictly and act like they're totally fine with it probably don't actively enjoy it, it would be a bit weird if they did.

Also, although I don't think the pros go around trying to break up marriages, I think some of them aren't particularly considerate about the feelings of their partners' other halves. Just because they are used to being touchy feely they assume everyone else is OK with it (I don't mean the dancing where it's obviously necessary, but in the Tess Pit and on ITT).

Pretty ridiculous to "ban" an SO from doing something, particularly when it comes from a place of distrust or paranoia. Better to talk to them, make friends with the pro to see that they are not a threat and in fact happy in their own relationship as most of the pros are happily coupled up as it is.

I have to say if a boyfriend ever had a problem with me dancing for a reason like this and made me choose there is no way on earth I would pick the boyfriend.

Well i think that's fair enough Emma, though it is sad (for her and Matt) she's that insecure. Her husband probably has to cheek kiss and cuddle many female fans in his life (due to the music) so Emma does well to try and deal with that on its own, and there's tehnically lots of them and just one dancer.

But my, Emma should probably remember that she herself is a beautiful woman and I think Matt, say if was on Strictly, wouldn't need to be tempted elswhere because he gets to look at her everyday! But hey, i know people fall in love or otherwise stray for many reasons that aren't all looks attraction related, so no one can ever feel totally secure.

I was gonna say he might well not like all the people that want to kiss and hug her, but then again, I don't think Big Brother fans are comparible to screaming girls (or guys) that love you through/and sometimes regardless of your music.
