Jason wasn't my favorite, but I certainly thought he was among the top three housemates. It didn't have anything to do with sympathy or his looks.

Jason's eviction of Lateysha was the turning point of the show and Jason will be remembered for that and how he handled himself afterward.

BTW Interesting that all three of the top three finalists (Jason, Hughie, and Jackson) pressed the button for the 20 grand, I guess it wasn't a big factor for the voting public

Its a game show and the most entertaining should win, that was not Jason IMo. He could not even string a sentence together in his exit interview. He has plenty of money yet grabbed the 20 grand, if that is not greed what is,

I think his predictions on who "deserved" are fair because no one older has ever really won civilian BB. People like Ryan, Lateysha, Alex etc... are the standard age/types to win these types of shows, so can see why they assumed they had a better chance than a possibility of the oldest ever winner.

I still stand by what I say that they are MY favourite Final 2 of all time though I am happy Jason won. But I am happy he won more because of his treatment in the last 2 days than anything else. Note how he moved from my 5th fave to 2nd fave after the trial task.

'Lateysha or I would have been a more worthy winner than Jason' this is clearly a statement made by Hughie, in line with many other statements in the article.

Hughie was also quoted in the article saying " but I just think there's others like Alex, Ryan, Jackson, Lateysha." Hughie added: "I would have considered someone like myself, Ryan or Lateysha.

Notice where Hughie says he would have considered HIMSELF?”

I know the title uses quotation marks, but the quote is not backed up by the contents of the article. You're assuming that he must have said it because of the headline. The longer version of the interview printed in the Mirror has him considering himself, Ryan and Lateysha before Jason as winners because he's watched BB for years.

So the Mirror makes it sound like he just thought Jason was an unlikely winner, and elsewhere makes it sound like he's being arrogant. Hughie fans will believe the former and Hughie haters the latter.

Me? I don't care either way.

He pressed the button to stay in the game, he had to, nothing to do with greed.

I didn't want him to win because I felt sympathy nor did I fancy him. He was as entitled to the 20 grand as anyone else, it's nothing to do with what you have or have not. I don't want someone to win because they act like a performing monkey or never shut up showing off. We all know people in our lives who are centre of attention types and other who don't talk for the sake of it and if someone is quieter it doesn't make them a lesser person. I would have pressed the button in a heartbeat and it's no ones business what he was going to do with the money. At least he didn't make empty promises to share it or whatever. The majority of them are so bitter now they are out. I think he was pretty stoic to have put up with the disgraceful Charlie and if she hadn't been in there I think he would have had a better experience and the others would have been different towards him.

Hello, hope all's good!

I wrote the original article and I notice some have taken issue with the headline, so I thought I'd respond. In this particular case, the headline used single quotation marks meaning it has been paraphrased (for us, double quotation marks = verbatim). That said, it's been correctly pointed out that "worthy" wasn't mentioned at all in the main text of the article.

When I was paraphrasing a line of what Hughie said to fit in the headline, the word I used the word "worthy" to replace "deserving". The headline honestly wasn't meant to mislead, but I acknowledge that "worthy" and "deserving" aren't interchangeable and it was a mistake on my part. And so I will amend this and use the word "deserving" in the headline instead.

Sorry for any confusion!

Except it was not a prediction it was a statement from Hughie.

Yes interesting and jasons eviction of lateshya showed how cold and calculating he was. But i did not mind that it was part of the game. The difference in the three pressing the button; was Jason is well off and the other two haven't a bean. Of course they pressed it but why did he ? Jackson and Hughie pressed because they are broke and Jason pressed from pure greed, He obviously has a big love of money. People who like him will excuse or rationalize his behaviour and vote for him but for me it put me off him. He showed his hand then.

Did you not hear him say it wasn't about the money, that it was to stay in the game because he knew he'd be evicted next if he didn't get their first?

Jason said he pressed the button mainly for self preservation. He thought he would be evicted by whoever won the button pressing contest.

You seem to have a slightly different writing style than I remember from past years. This may sound like a crazy question, but are you the same person who has posted under this name for many years?

If he did say that he himself would have been a more worthy winner, then that doesn't come across well. It just makes him sound bitter.

It's very easy to get a mob with pitchforks riled up if this thread is anything to go by

I'll bet a good portion of the critics didn't even bother to read the article

Sadly for them the public decided that Jason was the one they wanted to win.

You'd win that bet! The writer of the article has even posted on this page to clarify that he did not say that he was a more worthy winner, and just look at the post above yours.

Such people vote in things more important than BB.

Final 2 between you and someone you don't like, are you gonna think they should have won over you? Of course not.

If your in school and theres an award for pupil of the year, its between you and someone who made your 2 friends leave the school so you don't like them. They get the award, are you going to say they deserved it over you?

You're in work and there's a promotion available, between you and the person who caused your 2 friends to get sacked, the person gets the promotion, are you gonna say they deserved the promotion over you?

I could post these scenarios all day long and wheather people admit it or not they would never think a person they didn't like deserved the prize more than themselves.

Now, now don't tar all with the same brush. Personally I made clear I didn't read the article. But when I post on thing's such as this. It's usually more my own general take anyway. Rather than anything very specific.

That's quite an assumption , that he won because older women fancied him .
Speak for yourself .
Hughie gave us tantrums and screaming and having sex on national telly , and frankly none of that appealed to me as an adult who wanted to be entertained by other adults .
Jason binning the awful control freak Teesha was the first time I found the show catering to actual adults prepared to offend the house bullies (sorry for using the B word , but it fits) by making hard choices . Then Ryan going brought out more of the other players , again partly due to Jason . He dragged the show kicking and screaming from a teen angst ridden romper room for sex obsessed idiots into the adult show it was meant to be .
I enjoyed watching proper adult conversations and a grown man evolving into someone more content in his own skin .
He most certainly deserved the win and therefore he won .

I'm so glad the most deserving and worthy HM won. They were a great group of finalists and Jason & Andy & Jayne were my favorites (any of them were deserving and worthy imo). I'm glad Jason won and remains dignified out of the game as much as he was great during the game
