I don't think that the whole story and Jasons winning was a great conspiracy masterminded by them both, neither are clever enough for that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were recruited as an on again/off again couple. As such they could have gone into into the house as currently 'off' and possibly didn't know whether the other would be in BB or not.
Perhaps BB even went to the trouble of not confirming their place in the house until the night of the launch to keep up to suspense.
They were one of a number of couples who knew and had a beef with each other before the show (that we know of, and they may well have been more waiting in the wings for the likes of Marco, Natalie and other early evictees depending on how the show went. Even that whole lovers visit thing was slightly weird and had an air of being pre-planned. So it's not so unthinkable. that one half was auditioned and accepted and then told that it was the theme this year and asked who they would name as their nemesis, or someone they'd really not like to share BB with.
There's a lot of manipulation actually on screen, so it's not hard to believe that there's a fair amount off screen either. It's definitely not a show about random people just picked from the street any more.

She's not standing down, she hasn't come to any senses, Charlies just doing what she's done for months as regards to Jason. ie. She hates him, derides him to all and sundry and then next whaddyaknow? she loves him and want him back. For all of his good and like-able and decent qualities Jason is weak and has, to a certain extent gone along with and enabled this pattern of push me/pull me behaviour of Charlies too.
They're like an extremely budget low end Burton and Taylor without the talent, wit charisma or charm. This one could run and run.....
