There was a lot riding on the celebrity series being any good after BB17 was cut short (whatever, Emma Willis ..) and then, they go and fill the house up with virtual nobodies and at least three celebrities. A further kick in the teeth to those that were still watching and enjoying BB17.
The producers have completely lost the plot this year, and it seems to have slipped from their minds what Big Brother actually is. It's NOT TOWIE, GS, MIC, EOTB - or any other incarnation that supplies oxygen to total nonentities who nobody gives two sh*ts about. Until then, the show and the producers will continue to lose their grip on reality (no pun intended) whilst watching it's unpopularity nosedive further and out of favour with viewers. I accept that the show has and has to evolve, but if it evolves any further it's heading straight for the can. This year was make or break. Next year (if the show hasn't burned out by then) is critical. The producers and exec's have to go, there's no doubt. The show needs yet another (final) overhaul or they may as well call it a day. It was in great shape by the final C4 installment compared to what it is now and that's saying something. Unless the producers of CBB have prepared a raft of contrived storylines designed to hook in the 2016 demographic, I can't see the show performing any better than it is now. That is my point, the show doesn't perform on it's own merit anymore and rather on what 'twist' or silly idea the moronic producers have cooked up in a desperate bid to keep bums on seats. How they can expect this particular series to do well with the current bunch of inhabitants selected is beyond me. Good luck to them! |

We were all much younger back in 2000 but the show isnt going to be made for a mid 30s to 50 demographic which is what everyone has become that were watching at the start |

This what this forum never gets though it needs the 18 to 30s demographic watching though if there is not people who appeal to them the viewing figures would be even less.

Primetime is killing it along with the calamitous production team currently behind it. |

It will continue to drop if BB does not do something about the behaviour of some of the housemates. It is becoming very uncomfortable to watch.

Historically, ratings drop when there is fun weirdly enough. |

I'm someone who doesn't normally watch CBB but because I like the civilian one I've got into the habit of tuning in at that time.I don't mind if I miss a bit and also like to watch the CV bit on the side for news of the ex housemates. I wonder if numbers are boosted a bit with people like me.If there had been a gap I probably wouldn't have watched.
I saw the very first one where the line up was good. Think they've caught a few viewers by putting it straight after the civilian one. They won't keep people like me unless they allow certain people to face the public vote .There were two others bear was one who received enough nominations. |

Can you explain the 'whatever Emma Willis' comment - have I missed her commenting on reason why BB17 was cut short?
Maybe she was telling the truth because the Others house twist failed and with 18 Hms they were only supposed to be 15 or so because the Others were supposed to take the places off the Main HMs. I think initially they were supposed to battle it out and one by one people would get evicted either from the MH or the Others, But after being found out, and the fact viewers actually enjoyed watching the Others more, they put them together earlier than usual... hence having too many people in there, rushing it, having annihilation and then the double the day before the final. Or maybe as I thought, BB was cut short because LI was beating it... BUT then C5 started regretting it when LI and the Euro's finished as BB's ratings increased. Either way, back on CBB ratings... 1.6m is semi-decent anyway. Every episode so far has beaten the equivalent episode of last summer. As long as it does that, C5 will see it as a success. If it is above last summer come the end, 2016 will have been a very successful year with January's series doing brilliantly, BB17 beating BB16 and BB12 (and equivalent to BB15 and BB13) and this series being up on CBB16. Right now C5 must be doing somersaults celebrating their year on year climbs for both BB and CBB. |

Does that rating include +1?
So far, all 6 shows are up on last summer. |

I know people say this every series but lets remember 'on demand' when judging ratings. They don't include on demand services right?, so ratings are never going to be as good as they would be if there wasn't on demand services like the old days.
For example, every epsiode but last nights, i watched on My5. |

BB17 was adding a record breaking amount on timeshift for a cilvilian series with an average of 450k watching on catch-up, with some figures adding as much as 700k ![]() These 1.6m type ratings will be around 2m officially... something that C5 will treasure. |

CBB scored 1.5m (7.5%) inc. +1.
Looks like it will probably stay at this level which is the same level CBB16 achieved. It's up on the 1.39m that the first Wednesday of the series last year got. |
