I'm just catching up on all the episodes since Kylie's death and I'm surprised to see that I am actually enjoying them on the whole. There seems to be less silliness and frivolity, with a touch more heart and reality. The stories aren't fantastic (apart from possibly the Platts who have been been knocking it out of the park for quite some time), but they're not God awful in the way that so many have been in the last few years.

So what do you think? Is everything slowly getting better?

I haven't seen tonight's (well yesterday's now) yet but I think It's improving, I'm not quite sure what It is, I can't put my finger on It but the show seems to have a different "feel" to it lately, and character interactions etc feel more "real". I'm enjoying the Platt stuff and Leanne's baby storyline but the Kate /Caz stuff bores me to tears

Categorically NO!

I also have no intention of wasting six nights a week gazing at it. That can only dilute it even more.

Probably too early to categorically say it's on the up, but certainly there has been a marked change for the better this last couple of weeks which has seen me looking forward to the next episode for the first time in a long while!!

Think you've summed it up best ndd.

I've noticed some improvement in the scripts - not sure what the true cause is as its the same writers and still Blackburn's stories - but the excitement that I lost around 2013/14 is coming back whenever I've tuned in lately. Hope this is the start of Corrie's turnaround after one of its poorest eras.

There's been a marked improvement over the last couple of weeks but it's way too early to start giving them too much praise yet.

I imagine normal service will be resumed when Sean makes his unwelcome return.

Definitely appears, finally, to be moving in the right direction .

There is still the residue of a few 'terrible stories ' to conclude somehow - and a few characters we would all like to see the back of as well - but in general , the tone/style seems to be improving - which is nice ( and l-o-n-g overdue ).

I can see Caz and Kate's storyline fitting in with Brooke Vincents temporary departure

Just hope Brooke returns refreshed & looking like she actually wants to play Sophie for the first time in a few years!!
Apart from a short spell when she left the shop & started workng for Kev, when there was some nice scenes between the pair of them, Sophie has bern a cheerless, unnsmiling sourpuss for far too long now & Brooke as the actress has looked like she would rather be on a beach in Marbella or somewhere!!

It still has its problems and it's too early to say anything for certain but I have definitely felt an improvement in quality over the last couple of weeks. I think one of the best things that seems to have changed for me is that there are more natural references to the past and some of the characters are behaving in a way that I feel is more natural to their character as we have seen them on screen in the past rather than just acting a certain way for the current storyline which makes things feel more character based and is a good move to start.

It reminds me of when EE was in a state a couple of years ago, desperately trying to revive the show by bringing back old faces and now attempting to generate interest in those who've switched off by adding extra episodes. New producer brought in to shake things up. Let's see how it goes, it's no better than Hollyoaks at the moment so there's much work to be done

The character interaction has improved tenfold. It's still riding high off the back of three high profile exits but there has been a definitive change in the feel of the show. Kate Oates stamp is very visible with numerous past references, the return of Gail the matriarch and more creative storytelling.

It needs a strong Autumn/Winter. Consistency is key.

I haven't seen it since Kylie's final episode. I did not find her exit storyline tasteful and prefer not to be reminded. Maybe later in August or September I shall give Corrie a chance again.

I've been enjoying it, but then again I enjoyed Blackburn's era on the whole ( aside from a few low points)

Despite some big character exits, there is lots I'm excited about. Jenny in the factory is brilliant and I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve the aftermath of Kylie's death has been really well done, with all the Platts on top form.

Billy and Todd is great Billy is my favourite new Corrie character in ages. I enjoy all his character interactions, he works well with so many characters and the actor is very good.

Feel of the show is changing that is evident, but time will tell if the show will finally be on the up, but looks promising.

Yes, I've been making a point of wanting to actually sit down and concentrate on episodes lately, whereas before they were frequently background filler while I went on Twitter!

It's too soon to say whether it's on the Up, but the continuity has definitely improved. Characters are suddenly remembering their back stories and history, we've had Gail remembering Brian, Sally reminiscing about Hilda, and Michelle finally remembering that she has a son. This in itself is a massive improvement, as under Blackburn all history and characterisation went out of the window.

Definitely seeing improvement. Small, but its there. And everything Im hearing from spoilers/cast additions...there is indication that things are moving in an upwards direction.

Yes this is definitely a plus point!
