According to a one day old Guardian piece she's recently broken her back, hip and toe. She wals with a stick and someone helps her on stage. For some reason my Kindle won't let me copy the link grrrrrr.

Well, her recent album's doing well - or relatively well - in the UK and - crucially - the Billboard charts. This is a woman who spent some time on the streets, but according to various pretty well informed publications - Uncut, Mojo - things have turned around for her.
Really I suspect reading a bit about her, even if she needed the money, she wouldn't need it that bad.
Bloody hell, that would be one helluva signing if true!

I'll be amazed too and would probably watch the show.
Well, that would be one really interesting housemate. I really can't see it, though. I don't think her health is robust enough and I just can't see her ever wanting to do it. Did anyone see her on Who Do You Think You Are? It was one of the most interesting ones I have seen.

I wanted so much to look like her (she's not that good nowadays sadly). I remember singing it as my mum was driving me back to boarding school- stopped me sobbing!She later did a part in a Somerset Maugham short story for TV and was dreadful! Couldn't act for toffee but she was pretty!
