PMSL at these youngsters who don't know who she is. She was a pop singers in the 50/60's who dated Mick Jagger, was into drugs and has had a very interesting life albeit not all good. She must be late 60's or even 70's by now. I remember her well cos I am of her era

Well, her recent album's doing well - or relatively well - in the UK and - crucially - the Billboard charts. This is a woman who spent some time on the streets, but according to various pretty well informed publications - Uncut, Mojo - things have turned around for her.
Really I suspect reading a bit about her, even if she needed the money, she wouldn't need it that bad.
She has been given money by various people over the years and seems to get by with money from gigs. A very sad tale of dug abuse and hep C among all her other ills and now she is a physical wreck.

Once Faithfull was lusted over, the sexy Girl On A Motorcycle. Now she looks like she might have been run over by one. She creaked slowly about the stage, walking with a stick, grumbling loudly about the indignities of old age and ill health. “Oh f***!” she snorted, when she had to stand from her armchair. “It is hard work, and for not much money.”

I can't see why she would be tempted by BB.

I don't think she could physically cope with a minute of BB! Shame - I would have loved to have seen her in it.

You know what they say - if you remember them, you weren't there.

Well now - THAT is a celebrity! Hope it's true; she's gonna have some stories to tell. A real rock'n'roll celebrity and wild child long before careful management, selfies and twitter followers.....

though anything between 1961 to 1970 she will have to say "I can't quite recall"

Im going to defend the so called "youngsters" because I've never heard of her either and I'm 34 years old. But I am interested now after seeing this thread.

Absolutely adored Marianne Faithfull in her heyday, her looks, hair, but especially her singing!

My brother-in-law liked her so much he named his daughter after her. It's sad to see gorgeous looking people get old but she's still the same person underneath and managed to have a sell out gig at Ronnie Scott's on Tues apparently.

But would she have been appearing there just two days ago if she's going in CBB tonight?

I just checked - knew she became famous very young. She released As Tears Go By, aged 16, in 1962. Love her husky voice. She's before my time but I'm quite astonished at anyone not knowing who she is!

Me too bearing in mind the.....erm, infamous incident with the Mars Bar. Of course she denied that it ever happened, and has appeared to hate the mass media ever since. Another reason why there's no chance of her going in tonight.

I am a HUGE fan of Marianne Faithful - this is amazing news if true.

I can't see her doing it - she's frail for one and seems to have a huge disdain for 'celebrity' culture these days.

I hope I'm wrong.

Can't see her going in.

She did 'Who Do You Think You Are?' a few years back.

A lovely lady.

If she was going in I would definitely watch - what a signing - but I'm afraid I think it unlikely.

BIB - Wasn't it fascinating? She's one of the few subjects I've seen who have not cried. (I admit I cried, though.)

I remember her too and the nice hippie dresses she wore, and I wanted one. But don't think going on BB is a good idea for her.
