Same.

I'll be back for the normal one. This CBB I have no motivation for.

Whilst I agree that most of the people in there are complete unknowns to me, as I don't want the TOWIE type programmes, I do actually quite like that I don't know any of them, because I watch with no preconceived ideas of them.

I also ignore their opening night VTs because they never give a true picture of the person. They are always extreme, and obviously the result of the housemate reacting to some very leading questions.

That said - it would be nice, in *celebrity* Big Brother, to actually have some CELEBRITIES, and not just "some reality tv show cast members"

Yep. I am massively relieved Farage isn't a contestant. He was rumoured as one. We have James Whale instead, which is bad enough.

I scroll though and tend to click the headings that I am thinking myself (e.g. "I quit" and "Biggins out") It is reassuring to read that you are not the only one thinking this way. I get so angry with myself for being weak and watching when I feel Channel 5 are just grinding it further down with every series. No, we are not expecting bloody Robert DeNiro but for goodness sake , pay for some half decent well known people. Like that other thread stated, it comes to something when C. Biggins is the most famous in there, (Yes . he has acted but he is a lot better known for being "a friend " to the stars.) I am of the old school and long for the old days of Big Brother.

The Brits may not accept being humiliated on national TV but are quite happy to humiliate themselves on national TV. Real celebrities, whether British or American would not go into CBB. The ones that do go in are no longer celebrities and desperately in need of some cash or are zzz listers.

The reason why there is a rise in Americans in the house is because there are so many more so-called celebrities (z-listers) in America than in Britain. The population in America is 318 million compared to 64 million in Britain, so of course they have more Real celebrities as well as Z-listers than Britain can ever hope to have.
This is besides the British celebrities who go over there to try and make a name for themselves outside of Britain.

The American celebrities that go to work in Britain are usually the ones who are no longer in demand in America.

Yep, I feel the same way. I also think Biggins is not just a friend to the stars, but he knows some secrets people would rather us not know.

Gary Busey was a real celebrity and he won (but he was treated like crap by some of the other HMs)

But we have had proper celebrities (see below)

Seriously, you don't know:
Michael Madsen (long list of film and tv on IMDb) most famous for Reservoir Dogs (Mr. Blonde).
Dennis Rodman
Gary Busey
LaToya Jackson, Jermaine Jackson (ok, he not the biggest name but still he is a Jackson)
Janice Dickinson
Coolio
Verne Troyer
Heidi Fleiss (maybe not a celebrity but notorious like Kato Calin [sp?])
Tara Reid
Evander Holyfield
David Gest and more....

I thought one of the Baldwin brothers went in one year but I'm not sure.

They use to have real celebrities.

I will watch this one like it is a civilian BB and I loved the most recent civilian BB. I can understand the moaning about this group of "celebrities" since I've only heard of like 3 of them but I'm still happy to watch it because I like seeing how the people mix/interact.”

We have real celebs in this one. It's just people are looking down their noses at Biggins, Aubrey, Frankie, Katie, Ricky and Sam which is ironic considering Tiffany Poloard and Lateysha are being so lauded at the same time. I also find a bit of a bias on here towards US HMs as if only they can be celebs. It strikes me as being somewhat awestruck by American famous people.

I know this lot aren't mega celebrities but the fame of someone like Marnie in this country is way higher than Michael Madsen or a Baldwin brother. It feels like snobbery is at work which is also really ironic considering we are actually talking about BB.

It doesn't promise a lot.

But I'll give it a week at least.

- This is it, in a nutshell. Frankly, I was shocked when Michael Madsen was in the house. He is now relegated to doing lots of straight to video crap, but there was a time when he was a hot property. How the mighty have fallen. But it supports your notion of no "real", in demand celebs wanting to go near cbb. See also: Gary Busey, who at one time was nominated for an Oscar, but has tragically become batshit crazy (though still weirdly entertaining).

I think a lot of veterans of certain eras/circles do, and Biggins is very likely to be one of them. Whether that helped him here I'm not sure though, apart from panto he only ever does BBOTS anyway now doesn't he, and so is known to the viewers and mates with production and the presenters etc?

The first 5-6 CBBs I heard of 90% of housemates.

The most extreme example of CBB in the C5 era scraping the barrell was the Irish beautician who gave Sophie Anderton botox once.
