Believe it or not, Sarah Whatmore has a new single out - her first since 2009 - and its really good! You can download 'Touchscreen' now, and it has a video too:

I really loved Sarah's album 'Time to Think' which was quite mellow and acoustic based - this is a bit of a return to her earlier dance/pop sound, but it still sounds very melodic and her voice is just beautiful! Such a shame that after a couple of hits she hasn't had much mainstream attention, but at least she is still making music that her remaining fans can enjoy.

Nice, thanks for posting this, I would probably have never found out otherwise. It would be nice if this got some mainstream attention but I doubt it.

Nice song though.

Thanks, glad at least someone likes it! I've seen some of Sarah's fans on Twitter saying that it could be a hit, but to be honest I just can't see it. Of course I'd love to be proved wrong but getting noticed is SO difficult these days and artists who have been away for a long time and/or 'flopped' before so rarely get given a chance. Once you're in the top 40, you can stay there for months - but getting there in the first place is nearly impossible!

Really like this. I've always thought she was a very underrated talent.

When I Lost You is a great song, she's definitely the best person to come from the Pop Idol franchise IMO, I like her more than Gareth and Will.

I quite like it. It's a pity she didn't release more singles in the 00s. Automatic was a great song and When I Lost You is ok too.

From memory, when I decided my top 20 songs from 2003 Automatic just scraped in!

By way of a dubious reason to remember Sarah, there was a moment when Simon Cowell was so amazed by her performance that he remarked "Marry me".

Oh dear I wondered how long before that would be mentioned!! I suppose its kind of funny, but a shame Sarah is more known for that than her beautiful voice!

Incidentally if anyone fancies giving her a follow on Twitter, that's the best way to find out about an EP she's releasing soon. She is also really nice and communicates with fans!

Sarah has released another new song today! This one is called 'The Cure' and its more dancey, I'm not 100% sold on it yet but its seriously catchy and if people actually knew about it, it could be a hit!

You can listen to the song here https://soundcloud.com/sarah-whatmore/the-cure-1 and its also available to download now.

Thanks for posting these links. I'm not mad on 'The Cure' but 'Touchscreen' is great. It's not distinctive enough to make it a hit IMO but that doesn't make it a bad song.

If you like Sarah, it might be worthwhile checking out another artist, 'Nina'. She has released 3 EPs which have some fantastic songs on them. Here are my favourites:

We Are The Wild Ones

Beyond Memory

Heart Of Glass (Blondie Cover)

No problem. I'm still not getting into 'The Cure' either - the verses are nice but the chorus lets it down big time IMO, I just hope its a fluke and the rest of the new songs won't be like that! I love Sarah so its great to have new music from her but I think that the sound of 'Touchscreen' suits her much better.
