I know that there are other threads however I would like to create a poll over Pam and Les Coker's axing.

Is SOC right to axe Les and Pam?

So far her cleared out Buster, Pam, Les and Paul.

Personally I would have been more impressed if SOC had showed flare and rejuvenated Pam and Les and guided them in a more positive direction.

I don't think he was actually responsible for the axing of Paul but I really don't see why pam and les have to go. There is plenty of mileage in their characters

It's part an parcel of the job, he got to make tough decisions and see who working and who isn't and clearly they wasn't, DTC had he own clear out and SOC will no doubt do the same further more.

They wasn't fantastical characters, for the most part they was C list characters who was given one sub plot stretch out over more then a year that ended up going south, the writers clearly couldn't felt enough to invest in writing better material for them.

Maybe there is other characters that could of gone before them but they was first in line, such is life.

Shame. I thought Les and Pam were two of the more likable characters on the Square. I'd have axed others before them.

I think it's the right decision. Les and Pam are isolated characters who haven't developed solid connections to other characters outside of their own little bubble. They were random, supporting players at best, who haven't added much to the show at all. Once DTC axed Paul, it chipped away at Les and Pam's only real solid link to the Square.

The show needs to trim the fat and refocus itself, and unfortunately for their fans, Les & Pam are part of the fat that needs trimming. At least they're leaving on the back of decent material - unlike what they were given for the past 2.5 years.

This. They may be likeable but that doesn't make them interesting, and in over two years on the show I can't say I have ever found myself tuning in to see what they do next. They're forgettable characters and they've only ever had filler storylines.

I'm forward to seeing some new faces.

I'm disappointed to see them go, but ultimately I understand the decision.

I liked them and there is many characters I would like to see go before them (mainly the pointless Sonia) but they are pretty much surplus to requirements at the end of the day.

I'm still really annoyed that Paul was axed just when the character was developing a relationship with Ben, back to the days where happiness in this soap is just not allowed, everyone has to die or mooch off miserable and broken. It's becoming incredibly depressing to watch to be honest and lacks direction.

Les and Pam I thought were good, I know many don't like them but I think the writing lacked any real depth and continuity when opportunities were there. They took a reasonably big storyline and just chipped away at it for a few seconds on some episodes and then forgot about it, then remembered it and then thought "ahh screw this" so ditched the characters.

He is like the only new character I'd happily see go! Awful character and actor and his hair is just as bad as Pauls...if not worse.

IMO they were never safe once DTC called it quits. While they've had a couple of big plots (this one at the moment, in particular) they were clearly lower down the EE hierarchy.

If only SOC can axe Babe and Whitney. Hate Babe and Whitney is just had her day. Both add nothing to the Carters.

Babe is the greatest Villian in the show tbh.

I'm really glad they are gone, and hope most of the rest of DTCs crap characters follow them out of the door quickly. A shrewd and necessary move from this SOC bloke.

It is hard to believe that anyone else could be axed whilst Shakil is still there. I don't understand it. It's hard to put into words just how loathsome he is.

Really disappointed by this decision. They were entertaining filler and some much needed older characters on the Square. A lot more could have been done with them and as has been said, others like the ghastly Shakil need to go. Tina and Sonia absolutely need to go as well, and Johnny clearly isn't working very well. Absolutely sick of Sharon as well, such an overrated character but at the end of the day, what does she add? Would gladly have preferred to see the back of that lot rather than the Cokers.

While I don't particularly like the characters, I think they still had decent storylines in them (if written better) compared to other characters in the show
