Joni Mitchell- Both Sides Now - JUST WOW
ABSOLUTELY the best song ever written for me
Beyond beautiful, the lyrics are as sad as they are beautiful. An older woman looking back on her life, cynical and resentful to everything she loved when she was young. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6W4jLzAihA So Melancholy and nostalgic A masterpiece |

Preferred Judy Collins' version, the first relase of it, but it is a great song.

How she originally played it in 1968 when she was known as a folk singer.

.... but in saying that, it is of course a brilliant track, created by a real female musician whos music sold as opposed to the overt sexuality todays 'stars' employ.

I do not understand how you can think that is a better version than Joni's 2000 version

Chelsea morning is beautiful as well.
Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning, and the first thing that I heard Was a song outside my window, and the traffic wrote the words It came a-reeling up like Christmas bells and rapping up like pipes and drums Oh, won't you stay We'll put on the day And we'll wear it 'till the night comes Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning, and the first thing that I saw Was the sun through yellow curtains, and a rainbow on the wall Blue, red, green and gold to welcome you, crimson crystal beads to beckon Oh, won't you stay We'll put on the day There's a sun show every second Now the curtain opens on a portrait of today And the streets are paved with passersby And pigeons fly And papers lie Waiting to blow away |

I also prefer Matthews Southern Comfort's version of Woodstock, another Joni Mitchell song. I find Mitchell's voice a bit too quirky. |

big fan ...gorgeous song and I agree one of the best ever written songs. I do love the orchestral version she recorded in later years with her lower register. I also really like Neil Diamond's version.

I love the song, but sorry, I can't stand Joni's shrill trill of a voice.

Joni's re-recording in 2000 is beautiful, but I prefer the 1969 version on Clouds. She's an incredible songwriter.
