So just as I was starting to enjoy Corrie, Sean Tully returns in tonights episode. I can't say i'm looking forward to it.

I really hoped that Kate Oates would've had the balls to axe this annoying piece of dead-wood but no....he's still there. How long must we put up with him?

Surely, someone will eventually see Cotton for the pitiful actor he is and give him his marching orders. How he's lasted 14 (?) years is baffling.

Never.

It's not gonna happen so probably best to accept the inevitable he is here to stay.

Because nobody else will employ him, and he is clearly doing something to keep his bosses happy

If you don't like the character, you can always mute his scenes.

I do but it still ruins my viewing. It's been a relief not to reach for the remote since he's been away.

I have no problem with Sean as a filler character, which is all he ever really has been!!
He's a bit like Anna to me, I neither love him nor hate him!!
However from what others on here say, he is popular outside of DS so the answer to the OP is probably never!!
AC seems popular with a lot of the other cast members to be fair!!

People need to accept that Sean will never be axed, he will choose to leave.

Corrie producers love him, he gets on well with cast members apparently, audiences like Sean, very popular on Facebook, like Kym Marsh he is good PR.

Considering within the narrative he was only going on holiday, it was pretty much inevitable that he would return.

I do like him, he can be funny.
He is definitely a favourite with other cast members and the majority of viewers. The comparatively tiny handful that post here are irrelevant.

It seems that once you've done around 10 years on the show you gain immunity from being axed (obviously there are some exceptions)

His alleged popularity baffles me.

There's a lot that don't like him/have no interest in him as well though. His chatshow bombed and he was vile on I'm A Celeb.

I don't think being popular is enough anyway, especially on Twitter where celebs hoover up followers. You only have to look at those TOWIE nobodies. You have to add something to the show as well and Sean hasn't done that in years if ever.

I think the likes of Fizz are far more irritating.

Watching Sean very closely at how Kate Oates treats him. Now is the chance to sideline him

Spoiler

in coming episodes. His lack of acting ability is now obvious. You can't give him serious storylines?

There seems to be enough to set a good fire and burn yourself publicly outside the pub in protest. If that's what it takes then so be it.
